The Cult of Christ

Holy Cow! I recently went on the myspace of an old friend that I haven't seen in years. She has become so Christian, it's not even funny. Her main page reeks of jesus, but wait, there is more...check out her photos. In every single photo that she appears in, she drew in with the computer angel wings and a halo. Kind of arrogant if you ask me.

I warn you not to even look at the rest of the page. She goes on and talks about how logic and science point to god. Pulease! Anyways, just thought it was interesting how easily people can become 'cult' like....check it out...

Yeah that is pretty funny.

Yeah that is pretty funny. The one with the cleavage and the wings/halo reminds me of a Victoria's Secret photoshoot. LOL

has anyone ever noticed

has anyone ever noticed "the look" religious people always have in their eyes, as opposed to Atheists? I don't know how to describe it, can someone else put their finger on it?

Slimm,

That "look" is very similar to folks coming out of a rave, high on drugs, don't you think?

I still think the only thing

I still think the only thing distinguishing a religion from a cult is popularity.

Slimm,

It's basically the look of someone who just came out of a marathon brainwashing session...that look has always creeped me out. It's like their brain has shut down all but the autonomous systems and is going on autopilot.

Yep Susan & Biodroid I

Yep Susan & Biodroid I couldn't have said it better myself, lol... When you look into the eyes of an Atheist you can see lightning speed transitional modes of complex thought & decisions taking place.

Slimm,

In most cases, I suspect that lightning speed is due to a caffeine overload.  At least in my case!

Will her taking up beliefs different to yours change the fact that she is your friend?

It saddens me when I see people moving away from theism, and the christians stop talking to them. And it saddens me when I see people moving to theism, and separating themselves from their old friends.

It would just seem weird if that would happen the other way, and an atheist would stop being friends with someone just because she made a decision to believe.

[edit: as for the look in the eyes, I think it's called a "fanatical gleam", though I read some theist here call it a "glow" and that our eyes were "dead" and that the lack was proof we were wrong.]

T="theists who's posts are fun-to-read, truth-seeking and insightful". Your own T will be different, but Tdewi includes { Avecrien, Cory T, crocaduck, JHenson, jread, wavefreak }

I'm going to start using the phase "Fanatical Gleam", lol. I think the look in our eyes represents "Being Real", and the state of Mind Over Matter.

Slimm,
