Is the Marian Bible a good one?

I went to my grandparents' house the other day, and found a big Bible there.  They let me take it with me, because I'd always like to have multiple versions.  I've just read the King James version, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this one, the Marian Bible, to be a good one.  I believe it's used by the Catholics, if that matters.  I wasn't raised Christian, so I wouldn't know which sect uses which kind of Bible.

I'm at least half stumped

I'm at least half stumped on this one.  I know that in Catholicism, "Marian" refers to the prayers, intercessions, and rituals that surround the "holy mother" but I have not heard the Catholic version of the bible referred to as Marian.

Of course, I was raised mostly protestant, and only went to Catholic school for two years.  I'm sure I could have missed something in bible class.

For a long time, I called

For a long time, I called the Atlanta Journal Constitution, "The Atlanta Fish Wrapper."

I haven't come up with a suitable monaker for bibles yet, but I'm working on it.

It's just so much work to tear all the pages out before you can get a good burn...

Haha, of course.  It has the same stories and everything that's in my little King James, except it has pictures!  Oooohhh.... aaahhhhh....  It also has little subtitles that describe what is in each passage.  It makes finding obscure verses a little easier.

The most accurate

The most accurate translation of the best known manuscripts is the New International Version (NIV).

You'll find the NIV has many differences with your KJV.  For example, Solomon's "bed" (KJV) with the virgins standing around it in SGS 3:7 is correctly translated in the NIV as Solomon's "carriage."  The story of the woman taken in adultery at the end of John 7 is completely omitted from the NIV, because it isn't present in the oldest and best manuscripts.

I like to read the KJV as literature, but when I'm checking the accuracy of something or reading for info I look at the NIV.  Also the Blue Letter Bible www.blueletterbible.org is a great searchable online version that allows you to do things like compare multiple versions and look at original Greek and Hebrew texts.
