That's really good news to

That's really good news to hear. I think there are some open-minded people advising the Pope, and they are more concerned with not being intellectually embarassed by the ID movement. Notice in this news article there is a line that says the pope seems to be endorsing ID. In the comments below the article, someone from Reuters mentions that the original Reuters copy did not have that line in there, and that the Vatican has already complained about the line and its undesired connection to ID.

evolution

Not new.  Catholicism, for it's own reasons, has never promoted hard opposition to evolution theory.

Opposition to Darwin's thought--after his death--has come chiefly from Protestant fundamentalists.  In the U.S. it has been concentrated in the South and various rural areas, frequently melding into opposing science education altogether.

If the Catholic take on evolution is really of interest, you might want to check out Teilhard de Chardin--tantalizingly strange and fantastic.

I don't give a shit what

I don't give a shit what the Pope says. The guy is a total homophobe. He actually believes that an invisible man in the clouds believes that gays are sub-human. Gee. What a wonderful way to spead God's love.

Not only that but what's up with that ridiculous hat he wears? Does he really think the invisible boss likes it when he wears that silly hat? You'd have to hold a gun to my head to get me to wear a hat like that and then go out in public.

As far as global warming, scientists have been sounding the alarm about global warming for a couple of decades now. For the Pope to acknowledge it at this late date is lame as hell.

Frosty's coming back someday. Will you be ready?

Man, what are you talking about?! If it was my freaking job to dress like a wizard, I TOTALLY would. And not only have it as a job, but be the learder of a massive amount of people?! Count me in. That guy could get mad booty. First spell I'd cast? Cock of the infinite +100.
