I missed Brighton Pride the other day, which I was fairly pissed off about, because apparently there was a bunch of christian protesters there, and everyone was going up and just taking photos and making out in front of them. I'm considering going along next year with notes from The Origin of Species, The Selfish Gene and River out of Eden... oh, and a megaphone.

In a way, we can "Thank God for Dead Soldiers." The reason all these soldiers are dieing is because of the idea of "God." It's the Christian God v.s. the Islamic God. So, as far as the deaths of soldiers go, yes, we do have "God" to thank for that.

Ol' Fred & Family will do anything to get on the news. At one time they were covered by the press when they protested at the funerals of people that died of AIDS. When the press stopped giving them the time of day, they started protesting at soldiers' funerals.

It's a good possibility that when the news stops covering these protests, Fred will find something to do that's even more offensive so he'll be on the news again.

Fred is a disbarred lawyer and makes his living suing people. From what I understand, he will sue just about anyone for anything. I don't know if he still does it, but he used to send faxes to businesses in Topeka calling city council members "Jezebels" and similar foolish names.

Several Phelps family members came to our theater to protest "The Laramie Project." Apparently they don't read too well. They showed up at the first preview night rather than opening night. DUH! The five or six of them were on one side of the street with their vulgar picket signs. We were all on the other side of the street in front of the theater just laughing at them. People driving on Main Street honked and gave Fred the finger.

We made the observation that it looked like the Phelps family is probably the result of family members marrying family members. There's definitely something funky in that gene pool.

 I feel the sentement, but in the end I think this kind of thinking leads to deleterious  results.   As men and women of reason we have a duty to endgage this dipshits.  Why?  Surly not because its pleasant...and surly not because we enjoy it.  But, we must engage these pricks so they do not further spread their pernicious memes.  many of Phelp's memes will not be spread because they are so outragious.  However, the core principles of his theology will be passed on.  Most notebly, his doctrine that the bad things that happen  on earth are because of God's retrobution.  Moreover, an even more pernicious claim:  That this planet was given to us by  God.  I don't think I need to explain why this is pernicious.

We need to stop these memes.  As Dawkins said:  Time has come for people of reason to say 'enough is enough'".  This entails out engaging all theists...as unpleasant as it may be.  However, you might ask, shouldn't we ignore them?  Well...did it work for Creationists?  Let us learn from the scientists mistakes.  Ignoring creationism didn't work, so why would it work for fanatical dipshits? 

Well, technically speaking, God doesn't hate anyone, in virtue of his non-existence.  However, given either the Koran or the Bible, it isn't hard to see that if that being existed, he would not only hate homosexuals, but a great many people.  One need only consult ones bible to see that the biblical God is quite the unpleasant fellow.  Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and many others can't even compare to God.  Hitler is a saint compared to God.

Except there is little dispute regarding your existence.  If God exists, he has not made it obvious that he infact exists.  This is the problem.  Moreover, why does God care if we obey him or not?  Is he some power hungery tyrant whos feelings will be hurt if we don't obey him?  If God wants obedience, it is well within his power to demand it...and get it.  So your comment is incoherent.

This is irrelevant.  I don't want to believe AID's exists...yet, I believe it.  I don't want to believe a man like Hitler tried to exterminate the jews, but alas, I believe it.  Whether or not I want to believe in God is a red herring.  If God demonstrated his existence, I would HAVE to believe he exists...whether I wanted to believe it or not.
