Today I found out that one of my courses is going to focus strongly on religious history. Questions on Reformation vs Renaissance in the formation of modern society, and the question of whether religion hurts or helps society. Class includes papers and in class debates with teams possessing oposing views. This is going to be fun.

As some of you know, I am an out of work Death Metal singer/lyricist, and a lot of the lyrics I've written deal with atheism, denial of religion, ect... So I thought it might be fun to post my favorite set of lyrics, just because I can! The song is called Soul Slavery, enjoy!

Based on the evidence I have searched out - from BOTH sides. I believe the existance of the judeo christian god to be scientificly improbable. And logicly impossible. Therfor unless imperical evidence is placed in front of me or found by me to prove otherwise I do not believe in the existance of the Judeo Christian god. I will add this to the list of other gods I believe it is highly improbable they exist. Most of these gods can be found http://www.godchecker.com/pantheon/index.php.

This makes me athiestic in my views - not to be mistaken with strong athiesism which would indicate I think its impossible for god to exist.

My name is Jack Wynne, and I have been an atheist my whole life, i just didn't know it the whole time. You see, i was raised by parents that never even brought up religion or atheism, or going to church, or even the bible. I was left to figure it out on my own, and I'm glad it was that way. As such, I was an outsider looking in on the Christian church, and therefore saw it with absolutely no bias. My whole life I have been reading everything I could find on "the Big Bang Theory" and Darwinian Evolution. At one point, in grade school, I brought a National Geographic in to school, (my parents had me subscribed to it if that tells you about my hunger for scientific knowledge), it dealt with the evolution of man, and I was virtually laughed out of the room. No one wanted to hear rationality, not even the teacher. I knew this stuff made sense, I knew there was solid scientific evidence behind it, and I just didn't understand why no one else could see that! So from then on, I kept my endevours in that realm, for the most part, to myself. I was encouraged to go to Sunday School with my best friend when I was 10, but I got half way there and decided not to, it just didn't "feel" right to me, even then. I did, however, feel a strong pull toward the sciences, and aspired t be an icthyologist from very early on.

The government of the United States of America was founded with one principle. In the Declaration of Independence, the principle is stated, “with liberty, and justice, for all”.

The government has failed us all. By declaring war against segments of the population, promoting ideological persecution, they have failed to fulfill the principle of liberty and justice for all.

No matter how many signatures are placed on a petition, it is the duty of the government to protect the interest of all people. They must be willing to allow all people the freedom to run their own lives. They must allow citizens the ability to make their own choices, and protect all citizens from those who would force opinions and ideals on them.

Parents often teach their children to respect them through fear and intimidation. They scream, "you will respect me" as they chase them around the room with a belt.

We have even created gods that demand respect in the same fashion. Fear of retribution supposedly leads to respect.

Truly, however, when someone fears you, they do not necessarily respect you. They may have respect for the power you seem to weld, but when the illusion breaks down, the respect is not there.

The idea that a child must "behave" in accordance with the dictatorial standards of the adults around them, is the problem. Children are taught that they must "respect their elders", but adults supposedly do not have to respect their children.
