Christianity is a cult.

Most of my family is nominally Catholic. Only a few are hardcore Christians, and a few more make frequent vague references to religion. I've been been thinking about the word "god." It's a generic word, and in using it to refer to a specific mythological deity, it implies said deity has somehow risen to a level of legitimacy where it becomes synonymous with the generic word. In my head, I've been replacing all references to "god" with "Yahweh," or "Jehovah," or "Allah." That small shift in thinking has shown me, on an emotional level, how indistinct the Abrahamic faiths are from cults and obsolete mythologies. It made me feel sorry for the people in my family who have been indoctrinated into the Christian cult. What systematic abuse! There are so many things we could be thinking about, it's a tragedy to waste a single second on such trifling bullshit.

Cult is just what big

Cult is just what big religions call smaller religions that they are afraid might become big ones

As if the cult of scientology is anymore bollocks than the cult of the zombie worshipers, or the sword wielding tee totalist

Quote:
A cult is a religion with no political power --Tom Wolfe
A "cult" is what big religions call smaller ones, because they're afraid of losing people's souls...and their money.

Christianity is an illness,

Christianity is an illness, it makes my skin crawl.
Actually so are all the other god beliefs.

There.

I said it.

Every once in a while i get in this mood.

People who think there is something they refer to as god don't ask enough questions.
