Confederate flag
I've about had enough of all this Confederate flag bs.
Ever hear of freedom of speech? I don't care what flag someone wants to fly, I say let them. Let them fly the Nazi flag if they want to. Every minute the politicians waste on this should see them locked up for a year for wasting taxpayer money.
Does it have ties to racism? Sure. So do a lot of other flags. Like the US flag, which was waved around while committing genocide. Like the Union Jack, which was a symbol of oppression for hundreds of years. I doubt there's ever been a flag that wasn't stained with blood.
There's more important issues than a bloody piece of cloth. Education has gone to hell, infrastructure is crumbling, there's at least two dozen wars going on right now, schools get shot up every few months, and Russia and the US are chest beating like it was still 1970. Shut up about the damn flag and let people fly it if they want to. There's more important things to deal with.

Yes, yes, yes....spot on.
It isn't about the flag in
It isn't about the flag in personal lives, it is the flag on federal, state, city or county property.
Yeah that's why Amazon &
Yeah that's why Amazon & Sears and Walmart & everyone else pulled it. Are you ever right about anything?

Is it not their right to pull it for image reasons though? Dukes of Hazzard is a stretch for me. I agree with their right to pull that show too, but it would be absurd to try to get all images of that flag out of that show. We can have Walmart without confederate flags, and it's up to them whether or not they want to keep it. I happen to prefer the USA's view of freedom of speech over ours. However, in this case, it's all marketing. Take a look at the issue surrounding marriage equality, what stance various businesses took, and how it affected them. You can't ban protest unless there's a bill enacted to....hmm....C-51....umm...they did remove the word "lawful" before protest in the wording, protecting protest. So yeah, can't ban protest!

Not the point. And it's not doing anything for their image in the Southern States either.
Pulling the show at all is ridiculous.
No, this has nothing to do with marketing. It's the logical next step to making legends out of assholes who kill people. It wasn't enough to plaster their names in headlines and dissect their life story, now we have to hate everything they like too. Next serial killer likes Call of Duty, so the series gets cancelled. It's fucking ridiculously stupid, and if I could brutally murder all these censorship faggots and social justice basement dwelling losers with a thought I wouldn't hesitate to do so.
Governments are wasting time and monry on a literal non-issue. And don't think for one second the left will win this fight. There's already a backlash rising up across social media, and every company who throws out all flag related merchandise is going to lose a lot of cash when people step in to fill the void.
You can't kill an idea, and anyone who tries to should be removed from the gene pool to prevent their stupidity from propagating.

So taking a firm stand in support of free ( controversial ) speech is actually bad for business and blatant ( politically motivated ) censorship is good for business. America is a fucked up country.

Quit changing the subject. They pulled it because of public opinion and the advertising industry or some public relations officer made a suggestion to pull it and they all followed suit.

I'm not changing the subject moron, this IS the subject. I should know, since I created the bloody subject! What a fucking idiot.
The FACT is that an uncalulable amount of taxpayers resources has been completely wasted on this bullshit instead of on something productive.

well, so far only south
well, so far only south carolinian taxpayers but boehner is already terrified it's going to spread to the federal level and is already calling for people to be reasonable and not drag it out. he has every right to be afraid, too.
pearl-clutching has always been big business, both in the state and private sectors. when conservatism ruled the US virtually unopposed from the end of WWII until the election of clinton, with the kennedy and carter years being only brief interludes, it was conservative pearl-clutching. "my god, she's marrying a negro!" "my god, they're burning the flag!" "my god, look how long his hair is!" remember when hollywood was actually conservative? when john wayne ruled supreme and there was a mccarthyite blacklist? it wasn't until guys like paul newman and dennis hopper got big that things started to transform into what they are today.
now it's mostly liberal pearl-clutching. "my god, they're flying a confederate flag!" "my god, they said a prayer at my son's football game!" "my god, he called that trans-person by a gender-specific pronoun!" "my god, look how short they made my son cut his hair!"
i fucking hate pearl-clutching of either persuasion. i'm a born dissenter and shit-stirrer. if there's a hippy party going on nextdoor, i'll start blasting merle haggard and running every gas-powered machine i have. if there are a bunch of redneck mutants whooping it up, then sgt. pepper's goes on the speakers and i bring over a huge pot of vegetarian curry. why? cuz fuck 'em, that's why. i pretty much fucking hate everybody.
"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."
