Creation Museum
As you all may know, the Creation Museum in Kentucky was opened not too long ago. I can't read anything about it without laughing. Ars technica has a great review of the museum with many pictures.
Some of my favourite highlights from the Ars review:
"...they claim the reason poison frogs aren't poisonous in captivity is due to the Almighty. I'm fairly sure it's due to the lack of poisonous mites in their diet, but there you go."
"There was also an explanation as to why, with only one progenitor family, it wasn't considered incest for Adam and Eve's children to marry each other. Apparently there was less sin back then, and therefore fewer mutations in their DNA."
Along with the above quotes, there are many interesting pictures, especially the one showing the (society without god?) exhibit. The hilarity of it all is astounding. But, this always bugs me: when fundamentalists say that a godless society is, by default, immoral and dare I say it, evil! The museum, of course, has to have an exhibit showing the dangers of science and how it is destroying religion (which it is). It is easily to see that they invoke god in most, if not all, of their 'scientific' explanations without ever explaining god itself as well. That is to be expected though.
Enough of my ranting. The Ars review of the new Creation Museum can be found at the below URL for all who are interested.

Thank you for that. It's
Thank you for that. It's nice to get a sense of the nonsense without losing my cents.
Oops, they missed
Oops, they missed something(well, a billion things, but that would take all year, so I'll just take one).
The display that talks about dogs suddenly gaining new sub-species after the "flood" mentions wolves and foxes and coyotes as well. But what about the bear? The skunk?
I'd probably have a laughing fit if I went to the museum myself. I'd almost be tempted to go in and debunk each and every single exhibit they have if I lived nearby.

I can't believe people
I can't believe people believe in this stuff. Even a simple understanding of the way the universe work would show gaping holes in their "Science." How can people simply ignore the massive amount of mutually supporting evidence that evolution occurs. I get angry at things like this.
Ignoring mass evidence
As we all know, Christians have a confused sense of where our knowledge of good and evil comes from. They believe it comes from an authority (whether it be God, the devil, or a piece of fruit). They want to maintain their traditional authority to pronounce on the good and proper way to live. They believe (with good reason) that those in favour of secular morals want to wrest this control from them.
Christians think that part of the conspiracy to usurp their once-thriving power to pronounce on values is the scientific and philosophical efforts to undermine the viability of their scientific and metaphysical claims.
And their paranoia would truly be crazy, if it wasn't for the fact that scientists are, indeed, illegitimately assuming the same authority for themselves (i.e., to make moral judgements for the people). The sad thing is, instead of thinking for themselves about what is right and what is wrong (which is what secular morality demands), people have just handed the authority of pronouncing on good and evil to scientists. That scares the church, and they want to regain that power for themselves.
So, it's not that they don't understand science. It's that they ignore whatever loosens their authority and, thus, their grip on the morals of mankind.
Zygmunt Bauman has written a nice paper about this here.
Someone should organise an
Someone should organise an atheists field trip to this museum. I reckon it would be a right laugh. If I ever come to America,I'm definitley going.

That's actually a really
That's actually a really good idea. I have some family in Kentucky that I could go visit...
Who else wants to go?!
Save your money
My friend and I recently visited the museum and took hi-res pics of everything so others would not have to give money to these people, but still revel in it's "greatness. hope you enjoy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/n1c0star/sets/72157600335006271/

Excellent pictures. I caught them on digg just a few minutes ago; then went to check up on blog comments and there you are. Sort of strange how that worked out.
