Thank you to the two new subscribers and the several people that sent donations in the first few hours of my request, I appreciate it.

An idea was just given to me by answersingenesimmons...

I have now taken a 30 megabyte 8 second snippet of the material in question and uploaded it to my server.  If you have an apple with the $1,000 video editing software (which I found out is what I need, the film crew wrote back to me), maybe you can work on exporting the file to a more PC friendly format.  If you think you have something special in terms of new codecs for HD maybe you'll want to try toying with the clip as well.  Since the file is big I don't want to post it here for endless downloads, however I can send it to you via email.  Use the contact form to get me.  I'm specifically looking for someone that has protools for an apple and wants to see if they can reformat the file in such a way that I'll be able to view it on my pc.  Further this person would be willing to do the same thing to about 200 gigabytes of files that I would send to you after confirmation.

Or better yet... want to get rid of your old apple with protools?  I could always use it in the future for other video edits, and make it my laptop for on the road.  Just give me a fair price.

Renee (obsidianwords) just told me she can't make a payment via this page with a credit card, that paypal is insistent on getting her checking account info.  I am fairly certain that people have donated via credit card.  Would the next person that donates please confirm they can donate with a credit card?  Maybe a recent donor could confirm they were able to make a credit card donation?  Maybe someone could donate $1 to try and make a credit card donation?  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks to answers in gene simmons we now have a solution to the video problem, however we lose a ton of the video quality in the process.  If someone wants to donate a high end apple with final cut studio so I can maintain HD, I will give you my next child.

I'd love to toss you a few bucks man, but I'm a charity myself at the moment. Can't even prevent losing the net in December (yes, I'll be vanishing again for a time). I have certain employment lined up for February (employment with a PC and internet access, prophesying my return, unless they've blocked the site since last year), and might be able to give you guys something then, but unless I get a call from someone giving me work soon, I'm in no position to.

I wouldn't want a penny until you have internet at home.  Your posts are more valuable to me than money.  Same goes for anyone here who is a valuable contributor to this website.

I appreciate your sentiment very much. It's always nice to know that your contributions mean something to your peers. I've felt bad about not being able to donate, but there is always light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Optimism keeps me going.

Since we're on the topic of things it's nice to know, you should know that when you told me that story about losing internet soon, I was hoping I'd get enough donation money to have RRS cover it for a bit.  I'm reasonably certain I won't.  It's the thought that matters though and I thought you'd like to know.  

So here is my problem.  I'm 21, and I do not have a credit card.  I'd be more than willing to give a donation (even though it won't be of great substance).  It's just the idea of getting it to you?  Donations from me will come in small packages, as I'm working part time w/ a full course load so money doesn't come easy.

How do you suppose i can make my donation w/o a credit card?

Apparently it is some sort of verification process ~ they don't trust that my debit/credit card is good enough? I am just super-duper cautious...

I am very happy to be able to show a bit of monetary support and look forward to seeing what 2010 will bring!!!

I actually decided that being 21 and only have an ATM card is a little adolescent... so I went to my local bank and am waiting on a debit card... it'll be about a week... that should work

So you used cash only all of these years? I don't know if you are a partier, but having cash only and going out to the bars is a good idea....debit/credit cards can be dangerous as you can lose track of how much you have spent ~ heed this warning ~

Cash it has been... basically for that exact reason.  I like to go out somewhere with a set amount of money.  That way, if I spend it all, I have to weigh whether going to the ATM and paying the 4-5 dollar surcharge is worth another drink.  I guess I'm conservative in that respect.  I'm going to try to use just cash at bars still, but we'll see how long that lasts

My solution: Don't go to bars. They cost too much anyway.

I'm guessing his issue with that one is that there aren't a fleet of girls to talk to by his fridge.  

But I agree, and anyone that knows me can attest if I'm drinking it's at home.  Safer to know you're not driving, as well.

I used to be reasonably active here but dropped out  about 18 months ago due to a personal crisis and restarting my life (no details necessary).

I am one of those who accidentally wasn't getting the news-letters and I found it kind of amusing that the first one I received was "help, we need money".

I'm not flush myself and am just getting a brand new mortgage all by myself, however I really think this cause is worth it so I'm donating $100 US (lucky the exchange rate to the ozzie dollar is a bit closer at the moment, hehe).

First time donator, but I intend to do so every now and then.

I remember you, cool that you came back, and I hope your personal trials and tribulations weren't as tough to deal with as mine were.  

As for the newsletter, you can accuse me of being a good businessman who recognizes that the newsletter database is screwed up but to put it into perspective, nobody that registered in the last 2 years and 30 weeks was in the newsletter database so I'm not that good of a businessman.  :P  I know we've had at least a few big fundraisers that over half of the contributors to RRS never got emails about.

Good luck in getting the funding needed. I had no idea that you worked so hard!! It really is a labour of love.
