it is sad to see that since the last poll in 2005,fanatical Christianity is about the same... but the discouraging thing is the beliefs of miracles angels devil and hell have rising since 2005... I am sitting wondering if somehow the "new Atheism" is somehow playing a part by challenging faith? But if our country gets any dumber I am gonna end up flying to england to be homeless.. or hermit in new zealand woods LOL.. just kidding.
I just find the poll discouraging to our cause.
If God didn't want atheists than we wouldn't exist..

We have cities in New Zealand too, if you like!
PLEASE remember that these are people who, when they pick up their phone and hear, "would you like to participate in a survey?" don't immediately cringe and say, "Sorry, I really don't have time," but instead, "oh, sure."
Of COURSE they're going to find the wackos! What level-headed individual wouldn't consider that a rape of their time?
They should have asked about the tooth fairy, santa clause and unicorns in order to get a more representative picture of the people they were polling.

Some of us, a minority, think that if things get worse soon they'll only get better later, when the moderates are the ones who are oppressed (and thus become our allies). If America does turn into the Christian Iran, I don't intend to go down quietly. So let's wait on the question of whether or not we're "winning or losing" and ask ourselves in a few decades whether we've won or lost. And the answer is "we lost," then we try again and we do it better.
