Grand Theft Auto IV's comin' out in the end of the month. I barely play any videogames lately because I feel that they are a waste of time, but THIS... this is my religion.
Nothing beats stealing cars and running over helpless citizens. Or taking money from dead prostitutes. YES.
The online mode looks promising. ANYBODY DIG ?

It just garnered the reputation of being the best mission in the entire game.
So far it is. It's essentially the kickass scene from Heat - an epic shootout getaway. I just played it for the first time and failed it (accidentally blew up myself and the crew while dropping grenades out the car window to get away after escaping through the subway). Sort of glad I failed it though, I'm going to make sure I make a save point just before that mission so I can go back and replay it whenever I feel like it.

Its not really a spoiler .. . its only a spoiler if you tell how the gay guy you killed figured into the storyline. Unless who dates a gay guy out of boredom of course, in which case its not aso much a spoiler as a feature description of the game. By the way, if you havnt found the helicopter yet, it is becuase it is on the second large island that you have to open up since thats where the helipcopter tours are. Just thought I would inform you and anyone else who is still at the start and is wondering where all the helicopters are.

I can only deduce that you must be farther along in his missions then I am or, that you have called him i.e. i dont call very man people on the game, thus, as far as I know, there could be an option under calling Brucie to ask for a helicopter. Of course the second option probably has a direct relation to the first option. Either way . . .. pfffft! to you as well sir . .. pffft!

An interesting note about this game: it's FRICKEN HILARIOUS. Have you listened to the talk radio station or seen the T.V. station where they make fun of Fox? They call it Weasel News and make shameless fun of the right-wing blowhards. This whole game is one giant parody of the real world. I LOVE IT!!!

GTA belongs on the superior Sony System not the petty microsoft wannabe system. The only reason why I purchased a 360 was so I can play Dead or Alive 4 online as well as Ninja Gaiden.

Not in every single way and, techincally, the PS3 is the most powerul of the systems. Furthermore, HD DVDs are going out and Blu-Ray is taking over, thus, a PS3 is both a gaming system and Blu-ray player. Of course it has always been that whereas the 360 requires like an 80 dollar add-on in order to play HD DVDs which are becoming less and less. Also, Sony still has Metal Gear Solid 4 which even the blu-ray disc can't handle, meaning, if goes to the 360, it we be of even less quality. Also, the PS3 version of GTA IV outsold the 360 version by millions. In a pre-emptive response, and you can shove the exclusive downloadable missions up your ass!!!! GTA IV isn't a weak as sinlge player experience like Halo which needs downloadable content becuase the only reason to play it is for the multiplayer which gets stale until new maps, oh wait, Halo still sucks even with the new maps.

Sure... the PS3 has better tech then most 360's, sure, it has brand spanking new Blu ray... but a fat load of good that does it when it has such a small amount (i would say none) of games that hardly push the systems (sales and tech wise) and nothing even uses the Blu-ray yet (yes, im exaggerating, but still!!).
Of course... but its 1 game -_- fat load of good its gonna do (honestly, i wouldnt play MGS4 on anything BUT a PS3)
First! i couldnt give 2 shits about DLC, second! of course the PS3 Gta4 would outsell its 360 counterpart... PS3 doesnt have anything else for its base to buy!... oh hmm... do i want madden? or do i want GTA4... decisions decisions ^_^

Well, MGS4 is coming, and will be exclusive, so we'll see what that does. I'm not sure if FFXIII is an exclusive any more, but titles like that can and will sell consoles.
The PS3 is well, frankly ahead of it's time. and that's hurting sales. It has a lot of untapped power that developers are not taking advantage of, because, quite simply, they can do less work and sell it on other platforms or on the PS3 as well (even though the game doesn't take full advantage of the performance available) and it will still sell. It was also designed as a Blu-Ray player and web browser and multi-media storage unit (though I can say it fails in the last category without upgrades from experience - I installed an after market disc drive on mine and put a shit load of movies and music on mine, the original 60GB was not enough, now I have 750GB).
Personally, I bought the PS3, because I loved the PS2 and wanted a HD movie player, and if you were going to shell out $400 for a HD player, you might as well buy a PS3 and get an HD player AND a console.
Personally, I'm happy with my PS3, and consider it a reasonable investment - the Blues look amazing on my TV, and the upscaler for regular DVDs built into the system is also impressive. As far as games go though, I only buy a few a year (I simply don't have the time for tons of games), so I wanted to be SURE I'd get my Final Fantasy, GTA, MG and most importantly for me the lesser known Disgaea games, which I KNEW would be released on PS, even if not exclusively.
Were I more of an FPS fan, I'd have gone xbox.
True, it is one game, but it will finally show what the system is really capable of, and that will turn heads and boost sales.
It isn't as if I'm knocking the 360 either, I probably will eventually buy one - I've played on friend's systems and don't have anything bad to say about it.
The Wii on the other hand, I just don't get. It seems like this generations PONG. I understand its appeal to casual gamers who don't like 40+ hour cinematic games with rpg elements, but I'm not that audience.
Eh, the only game on 360 I've really been dying to play is Mass Effect, and I can get that on PC. I will grant that the 360 is king of FPSs right now, if that's your sort of game.
That said, I love the DL games on PSN and the backup content they have for existing games. And for the record, both the 360 and Ps3 are supposed to get extra DL content at some point, it just won't be identicle.
I wouldn't say I despise Halo or any FPS, I just get bored with them after a week. They aren't worth $60.

Just one game that, with each installment, revoltuionized the third-person action experience and this fourth installment looks to do the same thing. You can either focus on making a bunch of kinda ok games or a few really great and awesome games. Sony chose the latter.
If someone really has those two games in the same category they are in great error. Sports games fan is another group of animals.

And as far as GTA4 goes, I'm loving it so far.
I'm probably about 50% of the way through the story missions, and I have to say the story line and characters are the best of the series by far.
I miss a few of the RPG type elements that were in San Andreas (like being able to upgrade your skills and maxing out health and body armor - though that may come in DL content), but the story and physics engine of the game is just awesome, as is the attention to detail - TV channels in the game?!

I think the next area of focus should be on the melee combat. Adding a throw or grab button (or making it a combinatio of buttons) would help alot as well as weapon disarms.
I never get tired of watching the people stumble when you shoot them in the leg or shoulder.

That is cool, you can shoot a guy in the foot and watch him LIMP away from you screaming. The level of detail is subtle though, you do have to pay attention in order to appreciate it. but things like the lack of load screens when you go in and out of shops, getting run over actually REALLY hurts now, etc just really make what was already done well that much better.
