Google Chrome

Just downloaded Google's new browser, and holy shit it's fast.

Still beta, so doubtless there will be bugs, but I've been surfing on it pretty solidly, going from site to site for a good couple of hours now and it seems pretty stable. Open Source as well, so am pretty sure Alexa will put out a plugin to rank traffic via Chrome as well as Firefox.

Works perfectly with the RRS forums too, which is more than I can say about Safari for Windows when it first came out.

Can recommend, warmly, if you want a quick browser but doubtless Google will use it to increase their advertising revenue at some stage, either through data capture or targeted advertising.

chrome is eeehh

It's definately not faster than firefox, at least not on my computers, it's far slower, kinda sucks ass really, it took 10 seconds to load cnn.com while firefox took 6 seconds, and for a website that I have never been to, goabroadfair.ca it took 8 seconds while firefox took 4 seconds. I don't see this as being better.

I have IE6 and virtually

I have IE6 and virtually every website I go to opens for me in 1 second or less. I just checked cnn.com - it took in between 2 and 3 seconds while itunes was playing. It's slower if stuff is downloading or virus scanning, etc.

I think I will stay with the

I think I will stay with the new Firefox. It's great after you override the nonsense plugin restriction. (install Nightly Tester Tools plugin to do it) Also, I doubt that my instant translation plugin works there, which is essential for my well-being.

 XP, SP3. Hardware is

XP, SP3. Hardware is  server specification - I built this machine to run as a media server as well as a home PC.

Downstream is between 5 & 6 meg depending on the time of day, upstream is between 512k & 800k, again depending on the time of day.

Antivirus is McAfee Enterprise, anti-malware is SpyDoctor.

Chrome loads RRS about 4 seconds quicker than Firefox on my system.

Stop that... It's silly.

I've grown too dependant on

I've grown too dependant on some of the addons in firefox to move, unless google add a plugin style thing for chrome.  There's also the fact that I run a superior machine (read: Apple) that chrome isn't available for yet.
