Hilarious Republican Attack Ad

I don't know if anyone here reads http://www.daylightatheism.org/, but today it had an especially good article. The republicans wanted to attack Kay Hagan (some democrat up for election) so they smeared her by associating her with atheists. Apparently she once attended a fund raiser run by a secular PAC, so that is enough to have her branded as supporting the atheist agenda.

The over-the-top attack add can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5AsdYWtKLY

Daylightatheism.org has a good article on this if anyone wants to read more into its background. I know us atheists aren't that popular, but merely attending a secular fund raiser is enough to constitute political untrustworthiness? I can only hope that this is a sign of desperation from the republicans and that they will not beat Kay Hagan (who incidentely is an elder of the Presbyterian church and NOT an atheist by any stretch of the imagination). I also find it ironic that they attack her for attending a secular fund raiser when our government is officially secular.

Does anyone know of other political attacks by associating a politician with atheism or secularism?

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."

You and I both know that it's not satirical, Kevin...

...but I would have loved to have the opportunity to see the look on the face of some Republican activist or another after I told him that this ad would make me *more* liable to vote for Kay Hagan.

Alas, Ms. Hagan is not even running in my state.

Oh, well.

That's so bad that it made

That's so bad that it made me laugh as well. Bill is a nasty religious bigot and anyone I've seen go on his show that doesn't share his same closed-minded, hateful attitude is pretty much ripped a new one. I really would love to have a chance to go on his show and scream right back at him until we're both blue in the face, but I think that wouldn't really look good for other atheists considering the fact that I'd look just as crazy as he always does.
