obama + anti christ?
K, i keep hearing this all over the place that obama is the anti-christ, so my question is: Where the hell did this come from and how the hell did they come up with this? Also can someone explain to me the reasoning behind him being the anti-christ?
I'm really getting annoyed hearing this and not knowing why he is the anti-christ...
p.s. on a side note i was also told today that McCain is wayyyy to liberal and that there is only 2 liberals running and that there are no conservatives running, just thought that you all might like to hear this...
p.p.s. Why the hell do i keep running into the nut jobs everywhere i go recently, why cant they go back to their caves...?

The people saying this are fucking idiots.
Don't know where or how it started in relation to Obama but odds are some xtian far right conservative asswipe trying to get McAilin and McPalin elected had something to do with it. Here's a link to Snopes.com explaining the origins of the claim which has been used a number of times over the years to describe anyone the far right doesn't like. Snopes also points out the inconsistencies in the claim and the fact that Revelation doesn't mention the anti-christ.

Just a thought: if the anti-christ is real and is someone who will gain power by promising peace and tranquility and destroys everything while in power...Junior just might be it, only he's too imcompetent to get it done in eight years.

They are running out of things to call him.
Maybe they will move on to saying he's Gay, a Rapist and a murderous Pedophile next....all while McCain claims that "Obama will say anything to get elected".
Thanks Bulldog that information was insightful. I never realized that Revelations never even had the word anti-christ in it!
Georgia was on the verge of leaning towards Obama until Palin joined the race. The consensus: McCain is too liberal.

In order for Obama to be the antichrist for you have to believe in christ.
But I'm the antichrist. Albeit only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (appointments only.)
My friend, ok acquaintance, sent me an email several months ago about this. She seemed to believe that it comes from Revelations, where it speaks of a middle age man of Arabian descent, that will preach false Gods(morals), and will attempt to destroy from within.
She is a Jehovah's witness, but not sure if they are the ones that started it! Not sure why she cares, she is not part of 144,000.
Wow, Obama is antichrist? That's strange, I thought every good Christian knows, that Maitreya is the antichrist. I think they should get together and decide who's who. As Bulldog says, Christians are so full of hate and fear, that one person as antichrist is not enough for them. Most of the living people today missed Dolph Hitler who's the best candidate, (except he's dead, thus useless) and now they call antichrist almost every man who dares to step out of the crowd.
Beings who deserve worship don't demand it. Beings who demand worship don't deserve it.
WTF is Maitreya???

I heard things in my parents' church when I still hadn't grown the balls to leave that were basically descriptions of what the anti-christ was supposed to be like. I have no idea where they came from, but I remember all of the following
1) He will be middle-aged
2) He will be manipulative and will speak pleasing falsehoods and will have many deceived followers
4) He will rebuild the temple in Jerusalem in order to reign from it
5) He will have a foreign name
Apparently it is descriptions like these that the character "Nicolae Carpathia" from the despicable Left Behind books was based. I would wager that these ridiculous theories originated from the evangelical pentecostals, my father's denomination, who I have personally decided are the most batshit fucking insane xians of them all.
When my mother says she doesn't like Barack Obama because "there's just something about him...." and then shakes her head and gazes off into nowhere, I could slice the "I'm worried he might be the anti-christ" vibe with a knife.
A place common to all will be maintained by none. A religion common to all is perhaps not much different.
Though an atheist, I remain a son of the Protestant Reformation, and so I must remark that it is impossible for Barack Obama to be the Anti-Christ. The Anti-Christ is the purple-clad Whore of Babylon from the City on Seven Hills, that is to say, the Bishop of Rome.

According to Ben Creme, what Maitreya does among other things, is visiting a various groups of fundies all around the world and softening up their hearts, so they won't be such an assholes. He has mainly a priorities to start sharing of excessive resources, to make the war illegal, and to make the food, healthcare, housing and education as a basic human rights for all people. So, basically, he's a good guy wanting a good for everyone and he does a lot of work to make it come true. I've talked with a few people who met him, and they say he's also very charismatic, though secretive, but that's hopefully gonna change in next months or years. I don't know what Christians doesn't like about him. Maybe they're afraid that he will stop working for peace, justice, freedom and good will as he already did for decades, and will out of nothing do the opposite, then they'd have their fears justified, until then it's a prejudice, paranoia, and a bad interpretation of the number 666.
Beings who deserve worship don't demand it. Beings who demand worship don't deserve it.
In any case, why would the Hebrew number count have anything to do with 666? Six hundred threescore and six is from the Book of Revelation, which was written in Greek, not Hebrew.

As far as I'm aware the anti-Christ is actually Johnny Rotten of Sex Pistols fame, or so their song 'Anarchy in the UK' seems to claim. Either way, I can't see Barrack Obama being a big Sex Pistols fan somehow.
To stray from the point a little further, I'm quite looking forward to seeing the alledged anti-Christ win the election tonight (or actually tomorrow morning where I live).

I actually get the feeling that this thing's going to get called pretty early. The battleground states with the most votes are all in the east. It's not as if we need to wait on California and Texas to count their votes for Obama and McCain respectively. If Obama wins, he'll probably win by midnight.
Of course, Al Gore had won by midnight as well.

If Obama wins, he'll listen to people who doesn't like the organized orgy in all possible kinds of crimes, called war, specially when it happens in their back yard, front yard and in the smoky ruins of what used to be between them.
Yeah, that's Hawkeye Pierce type kind of gallows humour
The definition of Antichrist as Christians imagines it today, is 'a practical man of high ideals, helping the poor, caring for the planet', how ironic. If Christians means it seriously, then we need a lot of Antichrists. You see how twisted such a worldview is. The devil, aka diabolos, ("the slanderer", in Greek) has his name chosen well, just people fails to see that some texts are basically an attempt to slander the innocent men across the time chasm of two millenia. Let's say I write "there will come a man who will destroy the old rules and order, bringing his blasphemous ideas into an unprepared word" and I'll make a hard time to many people who does exactly that several times per century all around the world.
Beings who deserve worship don't demand it. Beings who demand worship don't deserve it.
<<<SIGH>>>
...yet again.
This joins a hit parade of other greatest stupidities, including, but far from limited to:
1. "(Insert name of Christian church here) is not really Christian."
2. "The Second Law of Thermodynamics disproves evolution."
3. "The Bible is the source of all the truth I need."
4. "John Denver's song, 'Rocky Mountain High' is about marijuana."
5. "(Insert name of individual here) is the Antichrist." (N.B.: President-elect Obama is
topical on this one, currently. But just wait; another Antichrist is sure to come
along.
And The Beat Goes On...
