Islam = Religion of Peace. Srsly.

Muslims have continued to sew seeds of love, compassion, happiness and tolerance today, a fundamentalist peace-advocation group orchestrating a surprise concerted mirth-giving festival in Mumbai, lobbing grenades of fun and firing bullets of joy into popular resort locations. The toll of those sent blissfully on their way into the ether stands at 76 (last I heard).

ISLAM: A MAGICAL KINGDOM OF JOY AND WONDER!

Quote:
"Natasha has just come up to the window from the courtyard and opened it wider so that the air may enter more freely into my room. I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full."

Golly, Kevin...

...you're not being the least bit sarcastic, are you?

Just the same, I think I'll forego the "magical kingdom of joy and wonder."

Last week schoolgirls in

Last week schoolgirls in Afghanistan were sprayed with the nectar of heaven in an acid attack...

http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5haEOn_W1LlNl48o55n7h3_K10r_w

The week before a 13 year old girl was stoned to death with pebbles of purification after reporting she'd been raped by three adult men.

The local law decided that as an "adulteress" it must have been her fault. A thousand people came to watch her

die in a stadium and a glorious fun-filled time was had by all, Allah be Praised.

islam peaceful??

yeah they have more wars and haven't had peace amongst themselves in a few thousand years, always fighting, bringing conversion by the sword, Islam is as peaceful as the Nazi's were in WWII. On that note, anyone know what there is to do in Edmonton? I am there for the weekend and probably till Tuesday, then off to Calgary and medicine hat.

Hm. Well, festival season is

Hm. Well, festival season is over in Edmonton, so there's not much to do downtown. Head over to Whyte Avenue if you want to get stupid drunk in relatively good company and pick-up some tail. If you enjoy performing arts you can phone ahead to the Jubilee Auditorium and see if there's any performance on that you'd enjoy.

If you want to do the whole touristy bit, you can head to West Edmonton Mall. There are worse ways to spend your night than getting plastered on Bourbon Street (a restaurant court in the mall) and then staggering into Galaxy Land (be sure to try and remember to pretend to be sober at the gate) and jumping on the rollercoaster (or whatever floats your boat).

Calgary... well, you should probably just head for the Red Mile (essentially the equivalent of Whyte Avenue, but at least twice as fun). Ifyou're here during the day you can head over to the Glenbow Museum (...now that I think about it, I might stop by there tomorrow. It's been a while), and can walk across the street to the Calgary Tower for a fancy (but expensive) dinner in the revolving restaurant. You can hit-up Chinook Centre for an iMax movie too, if that's your thing.

The Zoo is closed for the year (the don't hold winter exhibits, unfortunately), so I hope that wasn't on your itinerary.

nope no zoo visits for me

Just trying to figure out what the heck to do since it will be the weekend and all I know is the west edmonton mall. As for calgary did the tourist and expensive meal bit (good thing the company pick it up in the end) but the museum part could be fun, as for the drinking part, yeah my partner doesn't drink anymore (ulcer and tends to pick up women...being married not a good thing for him) so I am pretty much stuck with day time stuff...and maybe some night life if we are close enough to downtown....if.

But back to the topic, the amount of times I have heard moderate muslims say that the stoning isn't part of the religion nor the honor killing part or basically any killing, I just laugh....must be nice not to see like having hoods on like abu ghraib

I always wonder do these

I always wonder do these female suicide bombers expect 72 male virgins? Because most male virgins if they are at least average (or even a bit below average) looking they could just, you know, ask?

I checked out the ad for Muslim singles network. They have a ration of 6 men to 1 woman, so the women must be the ones getting screwed. The guys must figure the odds of getting laid are better at 1 man for 72 women.

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success. --Mark Skousen

The flagellum is an argument from ignorance, I don't see how I'm making it here.

 EDIT:

What I think I get it now, but that still doesn't answer.

I warn people NOT to think

I warn people NOT to think in the moment. Yes, the current state of the Middle East is frought with theocracy and opression and murder.

BUT do not confuse the seemingly docile religions of westernized society as being peaceful. Those religions have been forced by government to play nice because of the rise of pluralism through the implementation of secular governments, stemming from the "Age of Enlightenment".

But, even with that the underpinnings of violence by westernized religious people are still there. In United States history, the bible has been used to justify the wholesale invasion of land that they took through violence from Native Americans. The bible has been used to deny women the right to vote. The bible has been used to justify slavery and segregation and condemn interracial marriage.

It is because of secular government principles that in spite of religion we have become more tolerant of each other. If the idea of pluralism is scrapped in the west, if secular principles are scrapped in the west, it would only take a couple generations before the in fighting and violence would mushroom and we would look just like the middle east. If one thinks Christianity is a religion of peace all one has to do is look at how peaceful Ireland was. Their problems didn't subside untill muslim terrorists showed them how stupid they were being.

Western governments do not opress religion, which they should not, but they do keep a leash on religion, that without that leash, we would regress back into the same tribalistic violent behavior of the dark ages.

Religion is nothing but a gang and excuse to turn outsiders into another species.
