Darn. He missed.

Let's hope the secret service does a better job guarding Obama.

Perhaps we now know the real

Perhaps we now know the real reason they have us take off our shoes at the airport.

I wonder if President Chimp understands the message of having a shoe tossed at you in that region of the world.

"Anyone can repress a woman, but you need 'dictated' scriptures to feel you're really right in repressing her. In the same way, homophobes thrive everywhere. But you must feel you've got scripture on your side to come up with the tedious 'Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve' style arguments instead of just recognising that some people are different." - Douglas Murray

lol. Is there a different message somewhere else?

Is there someplace that throwing a shoe like that means "You Rock!"?

My thoughts exactly! The distance must be greater than it appears. Although he was obviously shaken by the attack - he got that especially chimpy dazed face on.

Just have dubya standing at the screening area and there'd be no objections from anyone about removing their shoes.

I don't find this funny at

I don't find this funny at all. I can't stand Bush, but we do have another President Ellect comming in, and the Secret Service's job is to protect the president, weither we like him or not. If we are going to expect quality it needs to be applied equally.

What if we get to the point where even the Secret Service becomes political and bias, what would stop someone assigned to protect ANY president from saying to themself, "I don't like them, I am not going to jump in front of that bullet".

If this slack of security can happen with Bush, it can also happen with Obama.

Now if people want to know

Now if people want to know why I am against hate crime laws and against  censorship from either side being offended, THIS VERY EVENT is a perfect example.

I found out just now on the news that the reporter MAY BE CHARGED WITH A BLASPHEMY LAW (It is illegal to insult a guest of the state).

HE SHOULD BE CHARGED BUT NOT FOR BLASPHEMY

He should be charged for desturbing the peace and attempted assault.

These types of laws are bullshit and coddle the insecurities of those in power and are dangerous to the freedom of everyone.

YOUR actions are what we have in common, not who we like or what we think.

FUCK ANY CHRISTIAN, LEFT OR RIGHT AND ANY ATHEIST THAT TELLS ME MERELY SAYING "YOU WILL BURN IN HELL" OR "JESUS LIKES IT UP THE ASS" or "MUHAMMED WEARS A BOMB IN HIS TURBIN" should be banned.

BUT, what we all have in common is that we don't like having shoes thrown at us, much less being punched or shot.

FUCK POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, this is political correctness.

I hear Bush has decided that all of his future press conferences in islamic lands will henceforth be conducted in mosques.

The reason he threw the shoe

The reason he threw the shoe is as stupid and narsicistic as the blasphemy "honor" law that he may be charged with.

WHICH IS WHY I bitch so much at politically correct atheists, especially in the west. Do you really want to put that kind of power in the hands of a majority who dont like you?

IRAQ'S laws are not conserned with his actions BUT THE SYMBOLISM of the shoe, HOW FUCKING PATHETIC!

If a Christian threw a shoe at an atheist and hit them in the face, should they be charged with a hate crime? Or should they be charged with assault?

If an atheist threw a shoe at a Christian and hit them in the face, should they be charged with at hate crime? Or should they be charged with assault?

If a husband throws a shoe at his wife and hits her in the face should he be charged with a "honor crime", or should he be charged with assault?

Assault is assault and your actions are what should be adressed otherwise we can all be put in jail merely for offending someone.

I'm backing Brian all the

I'm backing Brian all the way on this one. I don't expect any kind of superhuman reflexes or precognitive powers on the part of secret service agents - but, at the very least, somebody should've been lying on top of Bush by the time the second shoe was in the air.

'I don't like this President, so we should violently shove him out of the office,' is the wrong attitude to have if you want a functional democracy.

"Natasha has just come up to the window from the courtyard and opened it wider so that the air may enter more freely into my room. I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full."

Our species still hasn't matured out of the "tit for tat" mentality.

We can no more convince Bush supporters that he is a criminal than Muslims can convince the west that we are criminals through the use of violence.

If we want to prove to the world that our message is valid, then we need to live above violent reactions and lead by example.

I agree, but only on the basis that it is their job to protect the president.

Here's the problem. This delusion of a 'functional democracy'. Bush's approval rating if it were an accurate representation of American opinion would be enough to pass the vote required for removal from office. That didn't happen.

The TARP bill had a higher approval rating than Bush, but it STILL wasn't enough to get it passed in congress. Yet it passed. The 'Big 3' want 1/10th of what we spent on AIG. Yet they have to jump through hoops to fail.

I think a functional republic would better serve the people if it would do ONE thing of major importance by the people's wishes.

As far as 'functional government' goes, the poor bastard that threw the shoes has no such luxury as non-violent change. Yet.

Your 'functional democracy' of Canada fares no better. Shutting down the parliament??? Asking the Queen for help???

Currently, the last people on Earth I'd ask how a good government works live there. lol.

Josh - re-read what I said.

Josh - re-read what I said.

'If you want a functional democracy,' is not the same thing as claiming that you have a functional democracy. Sticking out tongue

For the record, my "Darn. He

For the record, my "Darn. He missed." was not an endorsement of shoe-throwing at the president.

However, I would not have blocked them either. Thus one of many reasons I will never be part of the secret service.

Judgment:

A citizen of another country throws a shoe at your country's president/leader. = Bad image of US. He doesn't like you.

A citizen of another country calls your president a "dog" and throws both shoes at him/her. = Bad image of US. Bad image of president. I don't like you either.

A citizen of another country calls your president a "dog", throws both shoes at him/her, and is praised by an entire geopolitical group. = Bad image of US. Bad image of president. Future peace jeopardized. You better watch yourself.

A citizen of another country calls your president a "dog", throws both shoes at him/her, is praised by an entire geopolitical group, and doesn't get 'capped' immediately. = Bad image of US. Bad image of president. Future peace jeopardized. We're wanted men. We have the death sentence in nine systems.

A citizen of another country calls your president a "dog", throws both shoes at him/her, is praised by an entire geopolitical group, doesn't get 'capped' immediately, and rallies 100,000 17 year old boys who lost their dads in the first gulf war to the al-quaida side of the fence. = Bad image of US. Bad image of president. Future peace jeopardized. Oh shit this is bad. You'll be dead.

This little Bush isn't worth the trouble. Come let me buy you a drink.

A totally fitting monument to Bush thus ensuring his enduring memory to those who he helped to free from their parents.

At least they called it "Bush's" war... however I am sure it does nothing but continue the hate towards Americans. And for years to come as it was made from copper and fiberglass!   Eye-wink

Hopefully the Obama administration will do a lot of things to help quell the hate they feel towards all Americans. There are lots of issues Bush has left both at home and abroad that need to be corrected. Obama so far seems to be up for it.
