Susan Motherfreakin' Boyle

I believe the good woman's voice speaks for itself.

If you haven't happened to hear this yet, you're in for a treat:

Quote:
"Natasha has just come up to the window from the courtyard and opened it wider so that the air may enter more freely into my room. I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full."

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!

Someone found a ten year old CD with Miss Boyle singing "Cry me a river" it also is on Youtube and I highly recommend it.

"Very funny Scotty; now beam down our clothes."

Hehe, did you see the look

Hehe, did you see the look on the judges faces when she started?

 I've been following this

I've been following this all week. I read an article last night that said, apparently, Simon was already in the know about Susan (since he is the show's producer) and had been making comments about her for weeks. So his initial scoffing was just Simon pretending to be Simon. The other two judges, according to this article, were apparently genuinely surprised.

And frankly, it wouldn't piss me off if everyone associated with the show already knew she was coming up and were just putting on an act. They're a business, aren't they?

What pisses me off is that no one can pay her a compliment without also paying her an insult.

"OMFG! Can you believe that such a great voice came out of such an UGLY SKANKY PIECE OF HUMAN GARBAGE! BARF! But she sure can sing!!!"

I mean, seriously. What the hell is a person supposed to say to that? Thanks?

The dude talking about her in this video has been the worst I've seen yet. What a cocksucker. Srsly.

Anyway. She was on Larry King last night, in case anyone missed it.

Well, to be fair the Cenk,

Well, to be fair the Cenk, he (as he puts it) likes to keep it real - and reality is a cruel little beast.

Ms Boyle is physically ugly. I feel very sympathetic for her, as she clearly hasn't done any of the damage to her appearance  (her hygiene looks fine, she isn't overweight, her hair isn't a mess, etc); she simply got the short end of the genetic stick when it came to her looks (like plenty of people, myself included).

Do we just sit around and pretend she's beautiful because of her astonishing vocal talent? Or do we be honest and call a spade a spade?

I prefer the latter, as it is honest, and no more cruel than the former (personally, I hate it when people patronize me and try to lie to me about my looks. At best it used to confuse me, as I then couldn't understand why I was treated as a 5 or 6 if I was a 7 or 8, as it were).

I personally think she is

I personally think she is adorable, but not in a sexually attractive sort of way. I like her demeaner and her personality.

No, she isn't physically attractive, but neither is, say, a pug (not that I am comparing her looks to a pug, mind you) and people go nuts over how cute pugs are.

  Her singing ability is

Her singing ability is absolutely phenomenal and she seems to be a genuinely nice person; an all-round likeable lady if you ask me.

As to her looks, so what?  She's a singer not a lingerie model.  Besides, I don't believe I've encountered any conversations regarding how homely Steven Tyler of Aerosmith is, or Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, or Alice Cooper, or Marilyn Manson or Gene Simmons of Kiss, or Roy Orbison....   These guys are in no way good looking but their careers have thrived because when they walk onto the stage they can deliver the ( musical ) goods.  It's not a freaking beauty contest m'kay ?

I would never suggest being dishonest, should the topic of her physical appearance come up. When speaking of her singing talent, though, her physical appearance is completely irrelevant. The way people are dwelling on it sends a ridiculous message: Wow! Ugly people can sing, too! I mean, before Susan Boyle showed up, were people honestly operating under the assumption that only good-looking people can sing? That would be a sad state of affairs.

We don't have to lie to her, but we also don't have to bring it up.

Unless we're being superficial, it's completely irrelevant.
