My live account expired yesterday and I'm not planning to renew it.

I just don't see much of a point, I don't get any use out of it. The only thing I use my 360 for is RPGs, all my online games are on my PC.

I use steam a lot though. I think that is better than live anyway.

Steam = goodHalf life series

Steam = good

Half life series on PC = God

Therefore...Valve is Mary.

I think.

Well, I don't do games that

Well, I don't do games that are not on the PC.  However, if you want to find me, I use steam as well.  Anyone can feel free to add:  Malpine Walis

I also use that name almost everywhere else so it is always worth a shot to add me on other services as well.  The notable exception is that I go by the name: Souren Hemsey in Eve-Online.

Evolution of FPS Gaming

Wolfenstein3D

Doom

Doom2

Duke Nukem 3D

Quake

Halflife Team Fortress

Counterstrike

This is not published for comment. It is fact.

Steam is John the Baptist, Valve is Mary, and Gordon is Jesus?

Console kiddies gamers share the fate of homosexuals and innocent virgins assigned in the Bible, St James version only as it is the true deluded western multiple translation document of truth.

Who would want to finish what they have said with the same thing everytime?

Also

A quick iteration of the "best enemy ever devised" in Doom2

Nazi, Undead, Demon, Cyborg Aliens.

Not since Space Pirates has a better enemy been devised.

Who would want to finish what they have said with the same thing everytime?

Wrong.

First first person shooters were Maze War and Spasim in the 70s.

In 1980 Battlezone came out in the arcades, and then for home in 83. There were many other FPS developed between this and Wolfenstein3d in 92, like Catacomb3D in 91. I'll include images below of that.

Are you suggesting that FPS stopped evolving at CS?

And for the record Valve is one of the coolest game makers ever. Releasing the Source Engine as open source code was certifiably bad-ass. This is also fact.

I agree, Valve is amazing.

I don't think they have made a bad game yet. And steam is the largest gaming community right now on the planet, as well as making gaming a LOT easier without dealing in disks.

I think it's more an issue of polish. They make sure to hold a game until they feel it is quality. Like what Blizzard used to do before Vivendi bought them.

I'm probably picking-up my

I'm probably picking-up my own 'box tomorrow, for better or for worse.

Uh. I'm for sure going to selfishly pick-up HAWX for myself out of a love for flying planes and shooting missiles and doing so with human wingmen... but I guess I should probably pick-up something that people here actually play so I can play with them. Sticking out tongue

What are people playing on Xbox right now (something with a fun, grind-esque co-op mode I hope? Anyone play Gears of War 2 or Left 4 Dead? Maybe Resident Evil 4?)

I play L4D on steam...

Sorry, I only use my xbox for single player games, or ones that I can play with friends in the room.

About a week ago, I tried

About a week ago, I tried Guitar Hero for the first time.  I utterly failed to find any entertainment value in it.  It seems to be one of those popular things that I just don't "get".  To me, it felt like pointless, unrewarding labour.

Any game can be considered pointless and unrewarding labor wouldn't you say? As far as entertainment goes it's all very personal, One man's trash is another man's treasure.

All forms of tampering with human beings, getting at them, shaping them against their will to your own pattern, all thought control and conditioning is, therefore, a denial of that in men which makes them men and their values ultimate.

I agree ND.  Personally, I

I agree ND.  Personally, I love the music genre games and view them as challenging, while allowing one to live a childhood fantasy (aren't most games like that?)  Also, I think I could probably pick up drums very quickly after playing through all the difficulties in rock band and guitar hero.

Games I own that are semi-current: borderlands, Rock Band 2, GH world tour, Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Gears 2

If anyone plays these ^^ online, my gt is Buckeyes 1810.  If you add me send a message so I know who you are.  Right now I'm mainly playing modern warfare.

Doom = Mood

I was utterly hooked on Doom back in the day.

Played and played and ultimately OWNED the whole thing.

I don't play any more. There can be no other game. But I am willing to meet other players, from anywhere in this world, in catacombs of our choice, armed with real shotguns, re-enacting the game with no mercy. Death walks behind you. Mother, I have failed. Amen. (That was pretty Catholic!)

I agree.  I understand that many people really enjoy games like Guitar Hero and I'm fine with that.  In fact, I appreciate the fact that these games are introducing new generations to some great classic rock music.  I'm just saying that, for me, playing the game was a real drag.

I don't have my own gamertag

I don't have my own gamertag as I don't have a 360.  However, I frequently use my roommates tag which is r3d x gh0st.  You'll know it's me if I'm playing Halo 3... it's the only game on 360 that I can tolerate.  I'm going to try to ease into Call of Duty cause I hear good things.

Basically if I'm online and playing Halo 3 it's me and if I'm playing any other game it's my roommate(s)

The only qualm I have with CoD's mp is that as you play more, you get better stuff.  While this greatly increases replay value, it totally fucks people trying to start out.  If you do try it, stick with it, because it's fun to unlock things for your gun to make it, and consequently you, better.

I'm ClockCat on PS3 and ClockCat on 360. I rarely use my 360 though.

Also, if anyone plays online games on the Wii I have a number of games including Animal Crossing and Mario Kart among others. :3
