Hello everyone
Hi, I just joined so I guess I'll give a little info on myself.
I'm twenty years old and attending college. Hoping to eventually earn a PhD in Physics. That's the dream lol.
I've been an atheist for pretty much my whole life but I wasn't really active or anything. I guess that could be due to the fact that religion has played almost no role in my life. I feel very lucky to have been born into a family that did not force me to belive in what they did. To me, god always just seemed like santa clause. lol... ya, I was living in a dream world I thought everyone was like me, but once I realised the degree to which people actually believed in this stuff it was quite disturbing to me..
Anyways, it's good to be here amongst like-minded people xD

Hey there.
My background seems kind of like yours. Though I fell in with the wrong crowd (Baptists!) and became hard-core Christian (YEC and everything) for about 8 years, due to a video I know now was full of discarded information made to look like lack of proof, called 'The Collapse of Evolution.' I even flirted with predestination, for a while. Oh, and I told my dad that Catholics aren't Christian- which caused him to get madder than I've ever seen him get (he's an ex-Catholic, comes from a loooooooooong line of Catholics).
Good luck on your Physics efforts! Don't burn yourself out. My brother did that; granted, he was doubling in Astonomy as well, and partying way too hard, so he first switched to Anthro, then left his first college (with pretty big debts from the scholarships) and came back to L.A., finishing his BA there. (Or was it BS? I dunno). It's actually a really common thing- people start on the 'hard' sciences, and slip into the 'soft' sciences or, worse, the liberal arts (shockhorror!)
