Well, guess that'll be it for owning Pythons in Florida.

Someone's 2 year old brat was killed by their pet Burmese Python last week. I'm guessing this'll wnd-up creating another legal ban on owning these animals as pets. :/

Nevermind that the douchebag in question clearly had no idea what he was doing with the snake, or that this will probably wind-up being the only python-related death in the States this year: some 2 year old died, so now it's time to be heavy handed and emotional (everybody knows, afterall, that snakes are just vicious serpents of doom and it's only a matter of time before they eat you and your whole family).

Fuck. If they would just hold the big pet store chain accountable for selling Burmese as 'starter' pets (what a fucking joke) because of their typical docility, this shit would happen even less frequently than it does already (something like 13 people have died in the U.S. due to Ptyhon attacks since 1980), and people wouldn't be dumping their 10 foot reptiles into the everglades when they outgrow the owner's ability to house them.

But, no. Of course not. Blame the snakes, sensationalize the story, punish responsible pet owners and move forward.

"Natasha has just come up to the window from the courtyard and opened it wider so that the air may enter more freely into my room. I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full."

The douchbag blamed the snake. You can listen to the tape here:

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success. --Mark Skousen
