I was curious to know if there are any legal issues as far as religious interference and persuasion on laws such as gay marriage? My home state recently had their elections and 85% of the oppositions contributions were from the catholic and mormon churches. Is there no law about this? And if the churches are tax exempt, should they be allowed to donate funds that influence government policy?
I apologize if this isn't worded well, it's off the cuff and I'm in a hurry.
