Some fun on the Johovah's witness official website

Some fun on the Johovah's witness official website.  I didn't know they had a site untill recently, I'll clip some nutty stuff but to get the real effect you gotta parrouse yourself with all the wierd pictures and rediculous content.  If you want to see what  a mind controlling cults literature and presentation looks like, have a gander its quite funny/disturbing.  They just make naked assertions, and quote bible verses, then you read the verse and many say nothing of the sort.  Theirs absolutely no depth on the site anywhere just shallow statements like "The bible is completely compatiple with science" without exaplaining any of the things that aren't compatitible.  The following are some quotes from the site:

The Johos explaining how they came up with 1914 as the beggining of the end of the world:

[When would that grand event occur? Jesus showed that the Gentiles would rule for a fixed period of time. The account in Daniel chapter 4 holds the key to knowing how long that period would last. It relates a prophetic dream experienced by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He saw an immense tree that was chopped down. Its stump could not grow because it was banded with iron and copper. An angel declared: “Let seven times pass over it.”—Daniel 4:10-16.

In the Bible, trees are sometimes used to represent rulership. (Ezekiel 17:22-24; 31:2-5) So the chopping down of the symbolic tree represents how God’s rulership, as expressed through the kings at Jerusalem, would be interrupted. However, the vision served notice that this ‘trampling of Jerusalem’ would be temporary—a period of “seven times.” How long a period is that?

Revelation 12:6, 14 indicates that three and a half times equal “a thousand two hundred and sixty days.” “Seven times” would therefore last twice as long, or 2,520 days. But the Gentile nations did not stop ‘trampling’ on God’s rulership a mere 2,520 days after Jerusalem’s fall. Evidently, then, this prophecy covers a much longer period of time. On the basis of Numbers 14:34and Ezekiel 4:6, which speak of “a day for a year,” the “seven times” would cover 2,520 years.

The 2,520 years began in October 607 B.C.E., when Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians and the Davidic king was taken off his throne. The period ended in October 1914. At that time, “the appointed times of the nations” ended, and Jesus Christ was installed as God’s heavenly King.*Psalm 2:1-6; Daniel 7:13, 14.

Confusion also arises from the mistaken idea that faith in God is merely an emotional experience. Far from that, faith in God and the Bible is based on facts that can be verified. As defined in the Bible, "faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration [or, "convincing evidence," footnote] of realities though not beheld." (Hebrews 11:1) Yes, faith is based on evidence. Hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled in the past and in our day. Thus, even applying the scientific method used by all scientists to establish a scientific theory, we can have complete confidence in the fulfillment of Bible prophecies that pertain to future events.]

This is them saying Satan was forced to earth by Jesus in 1914 to cause havic:

[The preceding chapter in this book explained that Jesus Christ became King in heaven in the year 1914. (Daniel 7:13, 14) Soon after he received Kingdom power, Jesus took action. “War broke out in heaven,” says the Bible. “Michael [another name for Jesus] and his angels battled with the dragon [Satan the Devil], and the dragon and its angels battled.”* Satan and his wicked angels, the demons, lost that war and were cast out of heaven to the earth. God’s faithful spirit sons rejoiced that Satan and his demons were gone. Humans, however, would experience no such joy. Instead, the Bible foretold: “Woe for the earth . . . because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”—Revelation 12:7, 9, 12.]

Here are some signs from their god we are in the "end days":

[“There will be . . . pestilences.” (Luke 21:11) Despite medical advances, old and new diseases plague mankind. One report says that 20 well-known diseases—including tuberculosis, malaria, and cholera—have become more common in recent decades, and some types of disease are increasingly difficult to cure by means of drugs. In fact, at least 30 new diseases have appeared. Some of them have no known cure and are fatal.]

It goes on to list (war, famine, disease etc...) as proven bible prophesies, and considers that solid evidence that the world will end very soon as shown in the next quote.

Here they come with the fear, be ready or die!

[Jesus foretold that most people would ignore the evidence What fucking evidence that we are living in the last days. The destruction of the wicked will come suddenly and unexpectedly. Like a thief in the night, it will catch most people by surprise. (1 Thessalonians 5:2) Jesus warned: “As the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.”—Matthew 24:37-39.]

This guys great some Johovahs Witness nuclear scientist they like to quote saying "The bible is in harmony with scientific truths".

[Confusion also arises from the mistaken idea that faith in God is merely an emotional experience. Far from that, faith in God and the Bible is based on facts that can be verified. They have alote of strange literature.   Just thought I'd post some quotes that show some of the Joho's position.  The site is full of naked assertions, one after the next over and over.

stupid idiots

My sister the JW tried to convince me once by showing me one of their bible study books.  It was a list of topics followed by individual verses.  If you actually read the entire chapter, the verse in their study book almost always had nothing to do with the particular topic.  I pointed this out to her going down the page, looking up the verse and then reading the entire chapter out loud, then complaining I really didn't see how they got from here to there.  She didn't show me the study materials again.  And the Watch Tower?  Makes me want to puke.  When I was doing laundry at a laundromat, I would gather up all the JW literature left laying around and throw it in the trash can.  Just because.

Sounds like every other denomination.

Everything makes more sense now that I've stopped believing.

Isn't it funny that god

Isn't it funny that god believers claim their god is all powerful but their fans are reduced to the same marketing that non-religious business uses.  Apparently the bible, koran/ Torah and Talmud cant keep up with secular technology.

My mom's still in the cult, and her mind is had by it.  I forgot how silly it all was, it's been over a decade since I read any of the material I just recently decided I would check it out for fun.  The "End is coming soon" really creeps me out.  My mom is 67, she's lived through 3 or 4 specific predictions.  She new people who sold their homes and cars and gave to the church awaiting the specific date of rapture.  Yet she goes on, everyday believing it's still going to happen, and preaches it door to door.  It just doesn't make any sense to me she'a a lagal secretary, she is fairly rational, lives a quiet life and pays all her bills on time, she's even quite smart, yet she sees no holes in her position, and the teachings of the cult.  I just can't understand it.
