Do you have a vice?

Vice: a habitual and usually trivial defect or shortcoming.

Do you have one? I'm doing it now so I will admit what I consider to be my worst vice.

I watch Naruto.

A lesser example: I constantly berate people I know, for misspelling and obvious grammatical flaws, when I myself commit minor grammatical flaws on occasion.

I bet some people have much worse than me =), though watching Naruto is pretty bad lol.

Faith is the word but next to that snugged up closely "lie's" the want.

Good! I like people who can analyze me, and that is not easy at all.

I'll take it as a compliment. But keep in mind, that I'm also occultist and mystic. Spontaneous extatic states of consciousness and universal unity are my daily routine.

Yeah, it is a compliment, but acknowledges you're going to have weaknesses in your approach to others, inevitably. I'm also a "rational" in the specific sense I have used it here - and there is no end to my own faults with others some days.

That is one aspect you'll have to be careful with.

“A meritocratic society is one in which inequalities of wealth and social position solely reflect the unequal distribution of merit or skills amongst human beings, or are based upon factors beyond human control, for example luck or chance. Such a society is socially just because individuals are judged not by their gender, the colour of their skin or their religion, but according to their talents and willingness to work, or on what Martin Luther King called 'the content of their character'. By extension, social equality is unjust because it treats unequal individuals equally.” "Political Ideologies" by Andrew Heywood (2003)

Guitars. Dude, do you have a gear list?

As for me, I have run out of space in my apartment. I need to get rid of stuff in order to even think about new stuff.

Personally, I have three bass guitars.

My first is a Peavey Millennium 5 with two passive J pickups. A while ago, I got a couple of gift cards for my B-day and those plus small cash bought me a set of elixir Nano-web strings. They are really nice strings but they are not as good as flat wounds.

My second is a Fender 4 string. When I got it, I was at an out of town music store and I did the whole “play every bass in the store” thing. Somehow I kept getting drawn back to this one piece of shit bass that had rusted strings and loose pickups. I ended up buying it for $170.

When I got it home, I got the pickups properly seated, I bought a set of flat wounds and I redid the intonation. It is a sweet ax now. Later on, I put the serial number into the interweb and it turns out to be one of the mid-90s Japanese Fender basses. Fuckers go for $800~$1,000 in good condition.

My third bass is also kind of special. I had it in mind that I wanted to try soap bars. The day that I got it, I was fairly well hung over but that is not too important.

So I walk into my LMS with my guitarist and I start playing basses. I find this one Schecter custom 5 with 2 soap bars for $800 and it is nice. I start the purchase pending a gig bag for it. The manager tells me that he will give me a store branded gig bag for free just because. I am good to go here.

My guitarist has a shit fit. To this day, I am sure that he was miffed that I can drop $800 on a deal that I just got. Anyway, he tries to insist that the specific instrument must be played by other musicians “to determine if it is good”.

WTF? Sure, there may be less expensive instruments that “are better” and more expensive instrument that “are worse”. Even so, I played many instruments before this one and once I found this instrument, I played it through several amps. He lost and the specific instrument became part of our band.

Such youth! Such innocence! Such NONSENSE...

Translation; *squeak* *squeak*

There isn't a smiley in the world that can adequately express the joy and bitter irony I'm feeling right now. So on the note of the sheer poetry of you squealing like a stuck pig over "stalking" while immediately turning around and making a physically threatening remark towards your supposed "stalker" (whom probably could not hurt anyone without using a fire arm or a butterfly), I'm going to have to say

CHOMP!

my vice

My vice would probably be about reading so much Chinese History stuff.

I live in the philippines and there are lots of chinese people here, they often get in awe and amazement when i talk with them about their history. My most favorite vice is reading anything related to the Three Kingdoms of ancient china. from then on it branched to different fields of history to japanese, asian, european, american history, to religion, wars, etc etc.

i also like telling what i have read in history to people like on why the chinese celebrated when the push cart was invented during the ancient times. we now crave for hi tech gizmos when during their time all it takes is a simple cart to ease up lives.

Not only can water float a boat, It can sink it also.

you goddamn techies.  i've always been satisfied with my martin d-16gt, and it was only last year that i finally broke down and had a fishman put in, mostly so i could set up quickly.  as far as electrics go, i have my '52 tele reissue and a fender blues jr. tube amp.  that's all i need.

ok, that's complete bullshit, but i'm more into the craftsmanship of instruments rather than seeing how many pedals i can buy.  i'd love to get a les paul or an epiphone sheraton to play solo like john lee hooker.  single coils just don't give me a meaty enough sound without a band behind me.  i'd also like to figure out precisely what set-up the old studio one reggae rhythm guitarists were using to get their sound.

as for acoustics i have an enormous wishlist.  i'd love a gibson j-45 rosewood, a martin d-28, a gibson sj-200, a gibson hummingbird, etc., etc.  for solo performing (my passion), i'd love a godin multiac nylon and an ovation legend 12-string.  if i could get my hands on any one guitar i right this second it would either be the godin or a national style o resophonic.  probably the national.  yeah, definitely the national (looking at the website now).

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."
