From what I understand, the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation occupies the microwave band of the electromagnetic spectrum due to redshift. Does that imply that at one point it redshifted through the visible spectrum? Would it have been bright enough to be observable to the naked eye?
I realize these questions are kind of pointless, but they've been drifting through my head for a couple of weeks.
