Offline Pakistan No.1 in the world in pornographic internet searches

THEY may call it the "Land of the Pure", but Pakistan turns out to be anything but.
The Muslim country, which has banned content on at least 17 websites to block offensive and blasphemous material, is the world's leader in online searches for pornographic material.
Google ranks Pakistan No.1 in the world in searches for pornographic terms, outranking every other country in searches per person for certain sex-related content, FOXNews.com said.
Pakistan has ranked No.1 in searches per-person for "horse sex" since 2004, "donkey sex" since 2007, "rape pictures" between 2004 and 2009, "rape sex" since 2004, "child sex" between 2004 and 2007 and since 2009, "animal sex" since 2004 and "dog sex" since 2005, according to Google Trends and Google Insights, features of Google that generate data based on popular search terms.
The country has also been No.1 in searches for "sex", "camel sex", "rape video" and "child sex video".Google Trends generates data of popular search terms in geographic locations during specific time frames. Google Insights is a more advanced version that allows users to filter a search to geographic locations, time frames and the nature of a search, including web, images, products and news.
"We do our best to provide accurate data and to provide insights into broad search patterns, but the results for a given query may contain inaccuracies due to data sampling issues, approximations, or incomplete data for the terms entered," Google said in a statement, when asked about the accuracy of its reports.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan did not reply to a request for an interview.
According to Gabriel Said Reynolds, professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Notre Dame, Pakistan's monitoring and banning of websites is not part of a government effort to censor the Pakistani people, but one to shut out the rest of the world.
"(It) could lead to conversion, which would undermine the very order of the state," he said. "Part of protecting the society is making sure that there is no way it could be undermined in terms of foreign influences."
And while Pakistan is taking measures to prevent blasphemous material from being viewed by its citizens, pornographic material is "certainly" contradictory to Islam, too, Professor Reynolds said.
The country's punishment for those charged with blasphemy is execution, but the question remains what - if anything - can be done about people who search for porn on the web.
"It's a new phenomenon," Professor Reynolds said.

A middle school teacher I had always said "the dirty dog barks first".
Even for a desert tribesmen this would be a bridge too far. Are there any camels in Pakistan? I didn't think there were and if there are they must have it on very hard terms.

but this seems to be taking things beyond a joke and into the realms of fetish... Everyone has their sensual quirks but messing with the livestock. Yikes.

Web searches increase when people can't reliably bookmark other pages (or simply remember and retype the simple URL).
Since many pornography sites which those in countries with free internet can bookmark (or remember) are regularly blocked, the people of Pakistan probably have to persistently do web searches to find new, unblocked, sites to get their rocks off (until those sites, too, are blocked, requiring a new search).
The camel fetishists in the good ol' U S of A can just go to their camelhumpers.com bookmark instead of searching all of the time.

I am not against porn, as most know here, but it should be between consenting adults. It does show the hypocrisy of those claiming to be religious.

Well, according to wikipedia, there are camels in Pakistan. Not many but some. Perhaps the scarcity of actual camels is part of the problem.
Although I would also like to note that you are using the internet and did not expect to hear much about weird sex. I guess that you did not know about news groups or something. Rule 34 dude. Also, I don't care what Snopes has to say on the matter. Somewhere there is a dude who heard the Richard Gere story and decided that it sounded like reasonable activity.

OK, I had not considered the polygamist aspect. However, in a country where 100% of the women are married to 20% of the men, I suppose that the other dudes have to get their rocks off somehow...

I thought spilling their seed on the sand was a religious crime though, and doesn't allah impose the thought crime law as well?

And whoever seeks beyond that is the transgressor.

This verse also clearly orders whoever does not have the financial means to marry to keep himself chaste and be patient in facing temptations (including masturbation) until Allah enriches them of His bounty.

They reckon it is ok in extreme moderation, seemingly because in the naughty, naughty, evil West, they just can't help themselves. It seems that camels also make them do it.
The bible has Genesis 38, re Onan, which I think does refer to the spilling of seed on the ground
