Ishtar/Astarte were middle eastern godesses of fertility [Sumerian/Persian] and their names ment A STAR, and refered to an eastern morning star, we [and the Romans] call it Venus. Centuries earlier when the Greeks conquered their way into Ishtar/Astarte territory, The godess Ishtar turned into Estrogen - easter - east(direction of the star rise). Astarte evolved into Aphrodite the Greek godess of love and fertiliy.
