In the footsteps of Marco Polo
I know this is an older story, from 2008, but I just watched the 90 minute documentary on PBS and was amazed of the story.
Two friends travel 25,000 miles over 715 days, to follow in the footsteps of Marco Polo.

That was long, but also enjoyable.
I am a sucker for travelogues like these.
Liked the guys statements at the end "Traveling shows there are most people are good and not bad" and "travel is the enemy of biogtry".
I really enjoyed Long Way Round with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Here are all the parts of the show, but I have embedded the ones I liked the most. You can watch those if you don't mind seeing them out of order or just want to sample.

Religion Kills !!!
Numbers 31:17-18 - Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

I watched most of them, thanks for posting it.
I remember when they were doing this or planning it. I saw an article on it in the paper after they finished but I never saw the video.
Amazing stuff. I agree to with the 99% of the world are good people and 1% of them are just douche bags. I agree also that traveling opens up your mind to other possibilities. A lot of these idiots who believe their religious faith is the only way to go have never traveled around the world, much less leave their home state.
Having been to several third world countries I have seen the way the others have lived. China and Peru were the two major factors in this for me as I got to see people living in caves, under overpasses and in living conditions which, well, really make me appreciate my life
I noticed a few comments on the Youtube replies which called them pussies and that because they had a shit load of money and a support team helping them, that they didn't really know what "roughing it was". I disagree with this point of view. Sure, walking around the entire world by yourself would have been the roughest and toughest way to go, but you do what you can do with what you have and they made the most of it.
I'd like to see some one make the same trip with out a support team.
