For Old Seer

Ok. Fresh thread. Let's take a new approach.

I do not want to here "our interpretation.....smurfs....bla bla". That has been well established.

in an attempt to make it easier, let's start with addressing individual questions. Here goes:

Judeo-Christian history, Jewish tradition, encyclopedias, the website I have shown, theology, etc. state that Hebrews do not state or write "God" because they think it too holy, so they substitute with JHVH. This is a FACT you can look up anywhere.

You, Old Seer, stated "the author avoids the use of "God" because the term didn't exist pre-fall.

my question is where did you find that information?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Mhmm, hard to forget. Chief Powers. Krum. Harris.

Oh, and you're an AT?

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, | As I foretold you, were all spirits, and | Are melted into air, into thin air; | And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, | The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, | The solemn temples, the great globe itself, - Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, | And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, | Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff | As dreams are made on, and our little life | Is rounded with a sleep. - Shakespeare

Lol.Since that's a

Lol.

Since that's a rhetorical question, I'll refrain from answering. However, I'll make a couple of related comments.

Generally, if I have to fill out a form or something about my religion, my response will be 'no religious preference' (which is what it says on my dog tag) or 'none' or 'agnostic.' Even though often think of myself as atheist, I won't put atheist unless it's the only relevant option. There's a number of reasons for this:

1) Atheism is the least socially acceptable answer. So, if I am surrounded by a bunch of people I don't know, I don't want them to know I selected atheist as my response.

2) Based on how I define these terms, I describe myself as a non-religious agnostic atheist. None of them are mutually exclusive. Ergo, any possible answer that fits one of those three terms is technically correct.

3) In my experience, the average American defines agnostic and atheist differently than I do. Under the most common layman interpretation, they ARE mutually exclusive, and I would be an agnostic, but NOT an atheist.

4) If the question is, "What is your religion?" with 'atheism' and 'no religion' as possible responses, it seems to imply that I'm saying atheism is my religion if I put atheism. Given how I define these terms, that's not technically correct. I am an atheist because I do not believe in god, AND I do not have a religion. Ergo, 'no religion' is a better response.

------

Also, nowadays, the military is significantly less religious than I would have originally guessed, especially in higher ASVAB ratings in the Navy and Air Force. I can be stationed anywhere and expect to have a number of non-religious co-workers.

My story ?    Oh, I'm a part time arms dealer who also dabbles in the illicit drug trade.  It's a living.

So, are you backing away from your statements from your thread where you defined the nefarious character flaws of atheists  (  I...am...an...atheist, ...I...have...no...emotion....atheism...makes..me....selfish...I...am...a....threat....to....society. )    Remember all that, you know, before you got all chummy with butterbattle ?  Do you still hold to your pronouncements ?

How about tapping into that military efficiency and simply answer the question ?   Oh, and since you love to quote scripture

Matthew 5:37 "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." NIV

Taking that verse into context now: The verse in reference is about honesty. Jesus is talking about the lack of need to take an oath. Just say yes or no, do not swear by anything, just be honest. I have taken no oaths to you.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

You seem to be quite  averse to providing me with an honest answer to my simple question.   How many times will you deflect ?   Are you afraid to stand by your own thread that you posted and whose wording I'm assuming was carefully crafted  ?   Shall I ask you a fourth time ?

You seem to be displaying a severe lack of backbone.

I gave a simple answer to a simple question

Mark 12:31a "And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Ah, so after carefully delineating "common atheist flaws" you have now decided that you would rather deflect with scripture/babble and run away from your own posts.   You are spineless ....truly spineless.

It is quite telling when a theist can't respond to a claim or question and attempts to dodge it by changing the discussion to imply something is wrong with the claimant or questioner. Such tactics are exceptionally useless in this format and with the calibre of the regular posters here (not including Brian, of course; but then Brian is incapable of any kind of rational discourse, so it won't even work on him).
