It is widely agreed that the Mayan empire collapsed due to climate change long before anyone from Europe landed in the America's. If the Spanish had come when the Maya were still an empire the Spanish would have been crushed like bugs on a windshield.

a few years ago, that one o0f the down falls of South Americam civilizations was also geological changes-IE the uplift if lowlands that caused their water channels to back up. There is visible evedence of them trying to redo the cannals but---the tide of plate techtonics got ahead of them.

The only possible thing the world needs saving from are those running it.
