You should be happy to know this election has convinced me to become a Socialist. I've vowed to never pay another dime in taxes to a government in USA, I'm going to work the system as welfare queen. Our tax rates between 1945 and 1980 at one point were as high as 90% on the top, 50% after deductions. FDR gave us the New Deal which gave rise to our middle class. Now are you going to stupidly claim FDR was a dictator?
If one argues that they want people to be indepenant, it would be far cheaper on society to pay livable wages and have afordable health care. If people can pay for themselves, then they won't depend on government as much.
Giving billionaires and giant corporations tax breaks they do not need adds to the long term national debt as to wich the rest of us have to compensate for.
Taxes are not robbery. They are how we pay for SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, our military, our police our fire departments, our roads and bridges. It is one thing to argue how much to tax, or what to spend taxes on, but taxes are something we all pay.

You know business just passed the costs of minimum wage onto consumers? We don't have affordable healthcare because few want to take care of the sick, you have to pay hospital workers more to attract more workers.
What is the incentive to get an education or work hard in a field like healthcare or home building? You want a world where the lazy and poorly education do just about as well as a hard working professional. Why should dads support their families? You say everyone gets just about the same. So why should a dad support his family if the goverment does it instead?
Do you understant the concept of a moral hazard? You can not reward failure and punish success and not expect the result to be a collapsed, bankrupt society.
If you really believed that, why don't we send everyone a bill to pay for these services and if they don't pay it, they go to jail or some form of punishment? Intead, if you don't have income to pay the bill for essential services, you get welfare. Why are not welfare recipient required to work instead? Why do we let people that can't support the kids they have more.
I'm not paying anymore for people that don't. I'm not a fucking slave.

Suppose good doctors in your country were hit with 90% income tax as Brian proposes, why wouldn't they leave? Why would anyone go into nursing in your country if welfare paid about the same after taxes? Why would anyooe be a janitor in a hospital? Did your country lockdown its borders early this year, unlike USA which could not because the Democrat party would call that xenophobic and racist? Do you have illegal aliens pushing people into the streets due to overcrowded housing? Do you have a millions of illegal aliens receiving free healthcare while not paying taxes?
What is the incentive to develop adavanced drugs and medical technology in your country if your reward for sucess is 90% taxation? A lot of socialist countries like Cuba have 100% free coverage, but if you get sick, there is not much technology to help you out. If you get sick, isn't the technology to make you better likely developed by capitalist pigs with a selfish profit motive?

Hey asshole, I just spent two seperate days in the ER with one overnight stay. Not for covid, but still, when I got the bill, it was like buying a NEW CAR.
So fuck you! I am lucky it wasn't covid, because I heard a guy with INSURANCE getting an almost 1,000,000 bill for almost a month, and that guy doesn't know how much his insurance will pay.

Then why aren't the poor required to pay for the 'essential' services they use? Send everyone the same tax bill, if someone can't pay, have the police come out and say work or go to jail. And not let them have more kids till they can afford them. Why is having producttive people pay for unproductive people a good solution?
How do you explain income tax? It is not a charge for services used, it is a essentially a penalty for working and investing. How do you explain welfare? it is a reward for being too poor to pay for these essential services. You can't let the poor steal from grocery stores because eventually farmers stop working.
I have no problem paying user fees for anything I want. If I use a road, I want to pay the workers that built the road. I don't want to pay people not to work, which is the current system of theft.
If really fucking believed these services were essential, why not make everyone pay? If they don't pay, make them work.
There is no need for taxes, everything can be made a user fee for a service provided.
Bezos got rich by pretending to be poor. He hired the best accountants and lawyers who advised him to reinvest all profits so he did not need to claim them for income tax. So his business has been subsidised by people that do pay taxes and can't write off everything. The only rational solution to this problem is pay as you go, which would eliminate the need for tax accounts and tax lawyers. But people like you are way to indoctrinated with BS to ever see that the current system is enslavement of workers for the benefit of welfare queens both corporate and in the ghettos.
