Freewill and a few Catholics
I was looking for some bible verses when I came across a catholic website forum discussing freewill vs. god's will, and thought I'd just remind everyone what kind of thinking we're up against.
The truth is that you can't collapse the mystery of "free will" and "God's will" into a nice neat "answer".
Free will DOES exist, and God won't not respect it.
God's will DOES exist, and all that happens IS God's will.
To claim the two are mutually exclusive is heresy, and an "idolatrous" imposition of human "reason" on God,.. setting man's "reason" above God's revelation.
(( The revelation that both free will AND God's will exist simultaneously. ))
Looking through the forum, I just get frustrated at how they dance around refuting their own religion. They're so close! They're asking good questions, ones that caused me to doubt! I can't believe they don't see the obvious answer.

Yeah, I remember playing those word games when I was in the stained glass clubhouse. When you try to explain cultish beliefs in philosophical terms, it's amazing what you can come up with.
There are no theists on operating tables.
I'm new to this site, and when I was looking around I saw a "God Test", so I took it. According to the test, I am suicidal because I do not believe in God. I found that interesting. To me that sounds like religion on standby waiting for vunerable prey. Just one more recruiting method, I guess.
If a god never existed, man would be forced to create one.
Welcome to the forums, guinness4strength!
We'd like to get to know you a little better. When you get a minute, we'd love it if you'd hop over to the General Conversation, Introductions and Humor forum and introduce yourself.

So if I have free will, and everything that happens is God's will, and God's will and free will are not mutually exclusive, then logically, everything that I do is God's will! Also, I am apparently God! YES!
*flips off some Kittens*
Totally God's (my) will.
The silliness of contradiction isn't what makes me reject their definitions though. I reject their definitions because of this:
Free will DOES exist, and God won't not respect it.
Noooo! Double negation! Why can't you just say he WILL respect it?! Why?! Never won't God not no respect to superfluous negation not give none!!! Never!!!
I'm done.
A place common to all will be maintained by none. A religion common to all is perhaps not much different.
