The Rational Response Squad is a group of atheist activists who impact society by changing the way we view god belief. This site is a haven for those who are pushing back against the norm, and a place for believers of gods to have their beliefs exposed as false should they want to try their hand at confronting us. Christians have more charities because they have more members who tithe and donate to them. Has nothing to do with ethics.
There are also a lot of religious groups and institutions. There isn't one particular banner that atheists go under. Chances are there are plenty of atheists out there doing charitable things. They just don't broadcast it for everyone to see.

Most people are an ethical mix. There's no hard connection between creed and behavior.
On the issue of ethics, you might want to check out http://www.ethicalatheist.com/.
