Dinosaurs
Ok I'm pretty sure something like this has probably been posted already. But I dated a girl once who didn't believe in dinosaurs. She told me this and my mind just about melted. So like any logical person I tried to convince her of dinosaurs. So first I asked her why she didn't believe in dinosaurs. "Because the bible doesn't say so" okay this is wrong on so many levels. I told her there are fossils and bones found that are dated from millions of years ago. "Man made those up to fool people", um...okay?... So I lowered my logic to her level. Pulled out the bible and read her scriptures from Job and the such that show that the bible does tell about dinosaurs. She had no reply, but still believed in her crazy faith.
Who brainwashes people on this stuff? Seriously, how can even a christian not believe in Dinosaurs. It's in the bible, theres fossil records, its something science and religion have to agree on. But still she doesn't believe. It blows my mind...

Dinosaurs aren't in the BuyBull, but some Christians try to use where it mentions "serpents" "dragons" or "giants" to explain them. Still, the evidence for them is overwhelming, and not believing them just because they aren't mentioned in a ridiculous book is just plain dumb.

Thats what I'm saying. I gave her christian arguements as to where in the bible dinosaurs "exist" and she still didn't believe me. It's crazy...
Me, too, and I was brought up believing the same nonsense and so was my sister. We both went to college and she is now a true beliver (trade mark symbol) and I'm an atheist and we both teach our kids that dinosaurs existed. It's very weird.
I was surprised and pleased to see that she had not gone so extreme as to tell her kids what we were told (that the devil planted dinosaur bones to fool us). But still, she is in the cult and I am not.
I wonder if she has stuck to her guns on the dinosaur issue and if her kids will question the religion because of it, for obvious reasons (not the least of which is the 6-10,000 year concept of earth's age, LOL). Oh my, let's hope so. Maybe her subconscious desire to "diss" the cult took over on this bizarre issue.
I don't know why I responded to this thread . . . I had to go back and re-read; it was to answer the question of "Who brainwashes people on this stuff?" Well, one answer is that Jehovah's Witnesses do. I am sure there are others, too.
If you're interested, you can probably find some hilarious stuff at one of the "Quotes" websites that mirror the original quotes site of some Canadian who got busted by the rich jw lawyers for quoting their own embarassing material.
ha ha. they got a court injunction because their own material was embarassing to them, not because of "copyright" infringement.
They've also been busted for misrepresenting secular sources, but that's probably a whole other kettle of fish, hee.
sorry, been drinking agin'. Anyhoo, in answer to your question of who does this sort of brainwashing, check out:

I hope you have a good excuse for dating her, haha! Was she supermodel-hot, or were you also a christian at the time? Please tell me it was one of the two. Just joking man, I've been in a similar relationship, with absolutely no excuse.
Do You Worship an Evil God?
She was the typical hot cheerleader. So I hope that counts as a good excuse. Plus on my part I didn't find this out until after we started dating.
Look at my blog! It's awesome!
