Heard a rumor about the RRS? Don't know if you like it here?

I just read this quote from Natural posted on our Atheist Nexus group page and found it to be one of the best summations of the "I hate you RRS" effect that I've seen over the years...

Natural wrote:

Just a warning to anyone reading this who's not familiar with the RRS forums: A lot of people have the wrong impression about RRS, based on rumors and haters, but if you go in with an open mind -- instead of assuming you know what it's all about -- then we are very welcoming of anyone willing to discuss anything with intellectual honesty. Some of our long-time members are people we strongly disagree with, but get along with just fine because they are honest to us and themselves. On the other hand, if you start making claims and accusations with nothing to back it up, we will challenge you unrelentingly. A lot of people can't handle this, and hence we get a lot of haters spreading rumors.

Oh, ironically the reason I noticed the quote was because I was going to look at the new group Natural formed.  Here is the information on his wonderism group. I didn't have an account on nexus, and I still don't.  So if you're looking for me there, you'll be looking for a while.

If you watch some of the more notorious ones you've probably seen me hand them their asses on a couple occasions. They really are sad. So many accusations, no proof, and a lot of speculation. The few points with any accuracy are nothing valid to complain about. And some of the shit is just downright absurd. Like the RRS is a cult that worships you. Rofl. I'd like to give a couple of them psychiatric evaluations to find out where they are getting all their anger from. Maybe it's jealousy, as nothing any of them have been part of has accomplished anything. They like to think the RRS does nothing, but they delude themselves. Just existing means people encounter it. And how many times has someone said this site helped them abandon their religion? It might not happen every day, but if even one person sees the light of reason, it's all worth it. There've been quite a few posts thanking the members of the forum and the RRS specifically for the help found here. That alone is more than enough for me.

'Unrelenting'?

Nahhh. No way.

Years and years of dealing with most of the same old misconceptions. Now that... would be unrelenting.

Oh. Wait.

Ok.

I'm not "unrelenting" I am a pussycat. (Retracts fangs and hides them).

That is a good post. Even on a local message board, it takes some longer than others to get me. At first they accuse me of hating all non-atheists, hating America, loving fascism, all the crap that goes along with being bluntly honest. However, many people there are getting to understand me. They may still not like me, but I am not letting them accuse me of bigotry that I do not have.

What I do to take the edge off to SHOW people I am no different other than not believing, I talk about sports, my taste in TV, books, movies, and I also use my cornball humor and even make fun of myself.

But what I will not give up is my blunt honesty. I find no credibility in claims of magical super brains with super powers that float everywhere and nowhere at the same time, meddling in the affairs of humans. These include all past polytheism and all modern monotheism and even superstitious ghost crap. I am an equal opportunity skeptic.

I promise anyone reading this that I won't hate you for making claims I find absurd. But please give me, and others here credit that WE DO KNOW the difference between a person, and a claim a person might make ON ANY SUBJECT.

If we think you are full of shit ON ANY GIVEN CLAIM, even outside the issue of a god, we are going to tell you. If you cant back up what you claim, we wont hate you. We merely won't adapt your position.

Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure. A centrally planned totalitarian state represents a complete defeat for the civilized world, while a totally voluntary society represents its ultimate success. --Mark Skousen

The admin of Atheist Nexus (Richard Haynes) reached out to me tonight.  How do you like that?  Someone heard a rumor and decided to go to the horses mouth, wow... how intelligent.  More non-believers should take his lead.  Richard and I have a lot in common, it was nice to have a long conversation with him.  A blog post is coming soon.
