Hey everyone
I figured I'd post a bit about myself and my history so you can know me a bit better.
My name is L.G., I was born in Roswell, New Mexico. I was raised in a religiously neutral home for 12 years, after which I moved with my parents to Abilene, Texas. My grandmother, a strict Southern Baptist, insisted on indoctrinating me with religion as soon as we got there. I fell for it for a number of years, having had membership at a number of churches: Baptist, Methodist, C of C, even Episcopalian. I started doubting after I left the Episcopal Church.
My doubt didn't last long, when I met my ex-best friend Bekah. A devout and charismatic Mormon, I felt what I found in Mormonism was the filling to the empty hole other religions left. I was only an active Mormon for about 3 months, after which I fell away and had my name removed from their church.
After having my name removed, I started attending the Episcopal Church again for a short time. Again, I started having doubts. That's when I picked up "The God Delusion" and read it. A wonderful book it was, and was the first step in me becoming hardcore atheist.
The Blasphemy Challenge has been the most liberating experience in my life. It's allowed me to let go of all my past religious indoctrination and take a stand for what is rationally and intellectually sound. I'm happier as an atheist than I ever was as a theist. Thank you RRS.
Some other non-religion related things, I enjoy playing bagpipes, guitar, and piano, and currently own my own horology business. Life couldn't be better.

Welcome to the forums, bagpiper2005! We're glad you're here.
Isn't it amazing how you went from church to church and kept looking until you figured things out on your own (apparently with a little help from Dawkins). Congratulations!
I'll bet you can do a great job with the Watchmaker Argument!

Hey, someone outside of the industry knows what horology is! I tell people I'm a horologist and they always look at me funny. They must think it has something to do with being a whore. Haha.
But, seriously, I gross about GBP 45,000 per year...and I work on everything from tiny wristwatches to the largest grandfather clocks. Life is great up here in the Highlands of Scotland, I must say. Just moved up here this January and things are really wonderful. Around here being atheist is actually respectable...unlike in the Bible belt where I used to live.
