It's a"Noisy Miner". Read about it here:

http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Manorina-melanocephala

They are very common around here, I took it with a long lens (don't remember the details off-hand).

It was in a tree on the side of the road close to where I currently live in suburban Brisbane, Australia.

I've found it can be tricky finding the right URL to use when you want to include the image as part of your post. The default image presented, e.g. the one you see in this post, is actually a scaled version of the original, and perhaps compressed differently. It has 'preview' in the URL. E.g. the URL of this one appears as http://www.rationalresponders.com/sites/www.rationalresponders.com/files/images/Bird_9050.preview.jpg

If you take out the .preview part, you get the actual image URL, but I think it might be higher bandwidth. E.g. here is http://www.rationalresponders.com/sites/www.rationalresponders.com/files/images/Bird_9050.jpg

You can also do the usual stuff like put comments/description in the alternative-text, or add make the image clickable with a link URL, but those things are done on a case-by-case basis when you use the image.

Really is an excellent shot Bob. I have dabbled in bird watching here in Virginia and that is like nothing I have seen. The large eye is very striking.

The only thing I cannot figure out is how it flew out of Noah's Ark in Turkey, leaving no trace anywhere until it arrived in Australia.

Have to ask Jesus someday.
