Well, aside from Austria's
Well, aside from Austria's and Japan's nasty little history of starting world wars, that's a damn fine list.
(I give Ireland extra credit... they have some violence of their own, but their beer makes up for it.)
Atheism isn't a lot like religion at all. Unless by "religion" you mean "not religion". --Ciarin

Obviously, Ireland rules.
Obviously, Ireland rules. Duh!
Happiness
20/20 did a show on happiness this past Friday. They reported on the work of a worldwide sociological study on happiness in the world. They didn't go into complete rankings, but they had notables.
Denmark has the happiest people.
Canada was #10
USA was #23
"Those who think they know don't know. Those that know they don't know, know."
The % for Canada is right
The % for Canada is right around where I thought, I actually didn't realize that we were still way up there though. I'm surprised. Glad to be in as progressive of a country as we are, but still lots of work to do here much less in other countries.
So true
Ireland probably has one of the most easy going socities around, expecially when it comes to religion. As for the abortion issue, thats likey to change in the coming decade, and civil parternships are well on the way in.
Is Japan's place on the list
Is Japan's place on the list secured by their high Buddhist population? I wouldn't call all Buddhist's atheists.
I don't want to be bitch
I don't want to be a bitch Zombie (you know I am anyways) but according to a poll made by Décima-La Presse 60% of Canadians are creationist. The article is in French but let me roughly translate what it says :
60% of Canadians think that God intervened directly or indirectly in the creation of human beings.
The study divides Canadians into three groups :
(A ten percent is missing... That's weird)
In Québec 40% of people don't think that God had anything to do with the creation (Woohoo we win, but still not high enough if you ask me), followed by BC with 34% and 22% in the prairies. (no stats for Ontario... to bad)
Some of the results have surprised the pollsters: Alberta, the cradle of conservatism, is one of the provinces where people believe less in young-earth-creationism with only 22%.
(And I love this line right here, it's in bold in the original text to)
Creationist = less educated or rural
That's about it... you can find the original text here

Well... There is no God, per say, in Buddhisms.

Like I said... I wouldn't call all Buddhist's atheists.
I should move to Norway then
I should move to Norway then haha. I found another list of least religious countries:

For some reason I'm having trouble believing some of the statistics on that one though.
some statistics on atheists

This video shows some positive correlations between atheists and prison rates, education, and divorce rates. There are a lot more positive correlations with positive moral values as well. Also, if you look in the information part of the video, you can check the sources of the poster. Atheists are not as amoral as you seem to make us out to be. As for the world war low blow, Japan didn't start a world war in the name of atheism. In fact, no country has every started a war in the name of atheism. Some countries are secular that get in wars, however, they are fighting for some other reason. The same can't be said for many religious countries. Look at the fighting in the middle east, not only with terrorists and extremist muslims, but also in Iran, Iraq, Israel/Jeruselum, etc.
