Hi everyone, this is my first post on this board.  I was gonna start a thread asking for opinions on the existence of the soul, but I found this so, I'll ask here.  I have had this discussion with a lot of people, atheist and theist alike.  It surprises me how many atheist I know believe or believed a soul exists despite the lack of evidence.  Some haven't even considered the possibility there is none.  Your thoughts?

For me this is a question of what we can detect.

If you give me some kind of criteria for a soul, say memory, emotion, imagination, and I can tell you what part of the brain does it.

This for me makes the whole thing the brain. The soul is the brain, and when it dies, so does the soul.

But there are really smart people who disagree.
