Catechism Series - Part 5 - Faith as Rational

THE PROFESSION OF FAITH

"I BELIEVE" - "WE BELIEVE"
CHAPTER THREE
MAN'S RESPONSE TO GOD
142 By his Revelation, "the invisible God, from the fullness of his love, addresses men as his friends, and moves among them, in order to invite and receive them into his own company."1 The adequate response to this invitation is faith.
143 By faith, man completely submits his intellect and his will to God.2 With his whole being man gives his assent to God the revealer. Sacred Scripture calls this human response to God, the author of revelation, "the obedience of faith".3

SACRED SCRIPTURE
I. CHRIST - THE UNIQUE WORD OF SACRED SCRIPTURE
101 In order to reveal himself to men, in the condescension of his goodness God speaks to them in human words: "Indeed the words of God, expressed in the words of men, are in every way like human language, just as the Word of the eternal Father, when he took on himself the flesh of human weakness, became like men."63
102 Through all the words of Sacred Scripture, God speaks only one single Word, his one Utterance in whom he expresses himself completely:64

Why I agree with atheists...as a CHRISTIAN
Submitted by Phero on February 10, 2007 - 11:11am.I have to be completely honest here...I believe this is a Christian nation as much as I believe I have three eyes, no nose and a horn growing out of the left side of my neck. This is NOT a Christian nation and any Christian out there who claims it is has been deluded by Right Wing, Conservative Christian Right silliness/sillyness (depending on how one chooses to spell it). For this reason I think it is silly to try to "Save Christmas" or "Save Easter" in anyway. Even from a Biblical standpoint Paul did not march up the Caeser and say, "I have a petition of 100000 of Jesus' followers and we demand that you end this persecution now!" Why didn't he do that? Well someone may say because he did not live in a democratic nation. Or....he believed in what he wrote as an apostle of the faith: "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)There has never been a Christian nation and there never will be a Christian nation, not on this side of eternity at least. The sooner we understand that as Christians, the better off we will be.

Pagan in a box.
Submitted by Voided on February 10, 2007 - 10:15am.I was clicking random internet aids this morning. For some reason a lot of my favorate sites have religious aids and I click on the interesting ones. You know the kind are like "PROOF FOR GOD!" or "HERE IS JESUS!" or "THEIST SLUTS XXX!" Ok I made up the last one, but it might be interesting to see that kind of porn.
Anyway, I clicked on titled "Pagan Religion Secrets" and it lead to this.
I would have called it Pagan In a Box, but they have a fancy name of course...
It starts off by saying, "You have been guided here today for a reason. That reason will become clear as I tell you the amazing story about the power inside you..." Like I haven't heard that shit before
An outing at the motion picture show
Submitted by Dissident1 on February 10, 2007 - 12:20am.With the big exception of the AMC theatre chain, which allows customers to bring in their own drinks so long as they are not in cans or bottles, most theatres force you to shop at the concession stand after you purchase a ticket there if you want food and drink with your movie. They then charge somewhere around three-times the average consumer rate for the purchase of any item.
This is just bloody insane! It is harder now than ever to get people into a theatre to begin with. The extremely high rates of movie tickets, and the use of cable and DVD, make such outings overly stressful for the majority of consumers. Then, if you manage to find yourself in a place where you can afford it, you find these extremely-high priced soda's.

Fear the Religious
Submitted by Atheist In Foxhole on February 8, 2007 - 3:32am.I have good reason to fear the superstitious and religious. I have been sent to a country to be the wall between two warring religous factions whose only gripe is who held more of the holy sperm, Mohameds son in law or nephew. Mohamed being the man who talked to the imaginary person and wrote down a whole book of misoginistic and racist tirades from the supposedly loving and unvengeful imaginary man in the sky. I dont know about anyone else but I would go with the guy that was less blood related, because some mental disease is hereditary.
So, I have been sent to Iraq to fight a religious civil war between two fanatical religous sects, I have been sent here by an religous zealot who believes his imaginary friend told him to become president and his imaginary friend told him to invade Iraq kicking off this whole religious fiasco. It seems an omnipotent being would have known what was going to happen when you invade a sovereign nation of his religious fanatics.
