Our new advertising campaign (donate)

A while back we asked for some help raising money for advertising, and we managed to bring in $480. Originally this $480 was going to go directly to one specific site however due to multiple factors we've decided to dish out the money through google ads around the web instead. We're very proud and happy to have ads running on some of the sites we're currently on. Furthermore there are several atheist orgs and sites that we like to support and have ensured our ads would be weighted heavier on those sites (helping both RRS and a friend site at the same time).  The site owner generally retains about 78% of the ad revenue, so your donation to this category is really going a long way!! You should start to see an influx of highly intelligent people as well from varying areas from psychology, biology, evolution, cosmology, physics, and more. While most of the campaign is aimed at people who would agree with us who can become part of our efforts, we are also running an in your face ad on a few Christian sites (this has been very limited):

We've spent over $1,300 on ads. Please donate more to keep the train moving!

We know through research that grass roots activists like yourselves like to know exactly where your money is going, and so we hope this advertising project will be one way for you to help us over the long term anytime you want to throw a few dollars towards boosting site traffic.

If you would like to donate $1,000 or more specifically to this project, and would like your donation
to be tax deductible, please contact us and we'll help arrange it. (serious inquiries only please)

As of Jan of 2008 the Rational Response Squad has the highest Alexa Rank of any atheist website in the world. As of Feb 25th, the Rational Response Squad is ranked #1 atheist website in the world on a 3 month average.  It's also about the 3,000th most popular website in the United States of America which is several thousand places better than it's nearest atheist counterpart.

Today was the highest

Today was the highest traffic day on our site in a month.

We've determined this was based in large part due to several factors...

1. Kelly's boobs... yes also a little of her brain. She was farked and they love her (but mostly her boobs):

Throughout the day she received about 10 friend requests per hour on myspace, while it seems her boobs were discussed somewhere between 75 and 150 times per hour (see Fark thread)

2. Kelly's boobs. No... the other Kelly. Our model friend who posed for the google ad shot was hit hard today as well. Thanks so much to the few people who donated which it seems all came off of myspace.

3. Sexo Grammaticus. Are you sensing a theme here? His name just oozes sex. His response to Dr. Roger Olson hit the homepage of Digg for a few minutes (I think). It was our highest count "landing page" of the day aside from the homepage.  Digg his post here.

Rational advertising... don't be scared of sex.

1pm - Hi Kelly. Can I get a spanking ! Hee Hee.

Sorry, my evening beer drinking has gotten up to a 12 pk, throw in a bong hit and I'm way silly. Hell I'm writting this hung over. I was up till 6 am with you rascals. Most of my posts I write gigling while the guys are jamming in my studio house. It's pretty wild around here in the evenings.

I need a breathalyzer hooked up to this pc. I get so happy drunk and think I'm being cleaver. You know the story. I was about to rewrite that last post but a customer showed up. I do vw engine building here in my garage. Sober of course !

It is getting old facing myself the next day in print, thats for the edit button. Writting and chat rooms are new to young me. I'm 56. Geez, stumbling across me in google freaked me out, the whole world knows I'm a nut ! One of my e names is axenut. axe = guitar.

Anyhow, Please do delete any of my rants as you see fit, like this one unrelated to the OP. I wouldn't want to be encouraging nonsense from others.

I should to be a paying member soon, and will try to behave. How to change my rrs blog name? which I made up without any forethought regarding rrs tradition. Looks like I'm grand standing, and all CAPS, but it does say alot about me. I was surprized by the reaction of my fellow atheists. The west really ain't got no east ..... I try to write cool aphorisms, like Mark Twain, I'm just not much good at it .....

Always an rrs fan, thanks.

((( uhh ohh, I just cracked my first beer ...5:47 pm, I will think before I post, what me think ....

Thanks for the generous

A slightly different chart this time...

We've had to scale back on the ads in the last few days due to the fact that so many users have been coming from other sources. The site has been glitchy and overhauls are being worked on.

It's time to donate to ads

It's time to donate to ads again guys... RRS bank account is all square with it's users and prepared to go in the red... please contribute to help out.

Total cost: $1,000+

Please keep the donations coming. That's $300+ in advertising a month... should we keep it up?

We're reducing it to less than half of that for now. And waiting for the donations to decide how to distribute it out.

Thanks so much for the past support.

We're up to $1,100 in ads,

We're up to $1,100 in ads, and in the hole on the project.  If we pulled ads back to 0, we'd be ranked about 26,000 in the world, past that it's up to us to advertise to get more views.  Our site is currently advertised primarily on atheist sites and therefore helps monetize the rest of the community.

Please help cover us in this win win scenario and donate for more advertising.  We're gonna start at about $9 a day with the new server, that's near $300 per month.

Hey the TV evangelists do it , and lie about atheist jesus philosophy .....

This week because we

This week because we initially hoped to have site upgrades working by today we had a few ads run in print newspapers through google ads. We've found a few surprisingly cheap ads, the ad below ran in the Louisiana Bastrop Daily Enterprise, Church Section. We didn't plan the juxtaposition of ads below but we love it...

Paper: "The popularity of religion as a whole may be in a slight decline here in America, but that certainly doesn't mean the Holy Book's reputation as being a perennial No. 1..."

RRS: "Religion is divisive and dangerous, it's time for us to stand up to it!"

We have been heard!

I have been wanting to do this for a long time.  I first need to set up a pay pal account then I will send in money.  Can I just donate a one time amount of maybe $150.00, instead of monthly payments?  So much easier for me.

Yes of course, and or as a

Yes of course, and or as a RRS member, PayPal simply sends RRS your chosen member ship fee automatically each month, and e-mails you each month, informing you. You can cancel anytime, or change your monthly fee, from $3, $10, $25, or more.

Thanks

Easy

I don't think of that process as easy.  I still have to wait up to a week for my new pay pal account.  It shouldn't take that long, electronically through computers, and I'm not as patient as you are.  I hope my rant is over.  By the way, nobody said how much the membership fee is yet!!  Maybe 10% of our pay.  Sounds fair doesn't it?

The PayPal account is part

The PayPal account is part of the membership sign up and takes only a few minutes. The membership choices are 3 - 10 - 25 $ a month, OR any amount over $3 , if I remember correctly.

See  "Monthly Subscriptions" , in left list, down a bit,

   here's the page

http://www.rationalresponders.com/monthly_subscriptions

There is no waiting involved , or hassles I can recall ..... Hey, if there was, I'd be LOUDLY  complaining .....

I have never heard of a problem involving popular secure PayPal .... but you can ask Google ....

I think RRS accepts checks and Money Orders too ..... for those without credit cards ....

Put some gas in the RRS fuel tank ! World Wide saturation ! Make history ! Break all the old records !  LOUDER !

Tithing is 80% of your pay, however we no longer accept tithes.

Yes you can make a one time lump sum payment with the chip in module above.  You also dont actually need a paypal account.  Paypal will accept any credit card for a one time processing without your account being active.  You can make one time payments by clicking the chip-in button in the graphic in the first post, or here (for server fees), or here for general funding.

Membership is monthly via paypal and it debits you automatically, $3 for bronze, $10 for silver, $25 for gold.  The higher the level you choose the more access and goodies you'll receive.  We don't disclaim all of the goodies in the gold membership, gold members find out the extent once they contribute.  Monthly memberships are here.

Thanks for the consideration, we really need the help to keep everything afloat.

As you can see from the chart below we've had to significantly reduce the amount of ads we pay for and at the same time have had to significantly increase how much of that ad money has come from the rest of the RRS pool of funds.

We've raised $1,580 and have spent $2,560.  This includes a reduced rate of somewhere between 0-$3 per day since early June.

$1,000 worth of donations to this chip in would get us to square one.

Thank you so much!  Today couldn't get much better.  A golf pro called me 30 minutes ago and asked me if I'd be willing to give lessons at his golf course this coming week (a paid position), I accepted.   It's my first actual employment since starting RRS.  Both Rook and I have been looking for full time work for a while, but I've been holding out for something in the golf field.   And of course, the money will keep getting funneled in to RRS success.  Thanks so much man!  Rook and Kelly are thrilled as well.

I'll put it back up to $5 per day now for at least a few weeks (slow and steady).  Big happy faces from the whole crew towards you.  Smiling

You're Welcome

It's my pleasure, really.  I've said before that I wanted to help more, and I mean it.  When I can, and as I can.  I think it's important.

Good luck with the lessons.  You know, with your experience there must be some kind of coaching position open somewhere.  I know what it's like when you can't find a decent job in your field...I'm a trained historian but I refuse to kiss professor ass for grad work and I don't have the patience for teaching.  As for other work...

I work for a national food distributor in South Philly.  While I am not in charge of any hiring at all and have no influence whatsoever, my company is always looking for salespeople, the smarter the better, especially if you live in PA and have some idea of the area you live in.  (I'm part of the office staff, so I'm not a sales associate).  They usually train for a few weeks before actually working, but if you stay it's not a bad gig.  Good benefits and some other perks...good driving record required, but it doesn't have to be stellar.  The best part is all of the people you meet through work and the amount of are networking you can do (all over the Tri-state area, including the Jersey shore and some of the larger casinos), which can of course lead to other jobs.  You never know.  One of my friends got a business degree 20 years ago but works in I.T. for the same company.  We're always looking for drivers, too, so if you know anyone you trust with a CDL you can send them our way (you can even generate a decent finder's fee for bringing in new drivers, sometimes up to a grand if the guy stays for a while).    Well, if you're ever interested in any of this, just let me know and I can give you more info privately.  Hey, maybe that's a good addition to the site...networking jobs around the country for fellow non-believers.  Just make it a forum thread I suppose...

Like I said, keep up the good work.
