S&M Last Supper gets Concerned Women's panties in a twist
The conservative group Concerned Women for America is complaining about the "hipocrisy" of this ad for San Francisco's Folsom Street Fair. This take on the infamous Da Vinci painting, "The Last Supper", replaces Jesus and his followers with men and women dressed in sadomasochistic gear (as well as one cross-dresser), and replaces the food with various sex toys. CWA attributes the advertisement to the gay community, saying on their website:
As evidenced by this latest stunt, open ridicule of Christianity is unfortunately very common within much of the homosexual community.
(Here's the really funny thing about that line; if you switch "Christianity" and "homosexual" around, the statement is still true!)
'Gay' activists disingenuously call Christians 'haters' and 'homophobes' for honoring the Bible, but then lash out in this hateful manner toward the very people they accuse. In their version of The Last Supper, Christ, Who gave His life for our sins, is despicably replaced by sin itself as the object of worship.
Honoring the Bible...which says you should kill homosexuals. This is not hate? Not to mention the idea that the violent depiction of Christ's body/blood being replaced by sexual connotations is apparently more repulsive than the original...Violence is fine, but sex is eeeeeeevil.
We're calling on California's elected officials - Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Governor Schwarzenegger and Senators Feinstein and Boxer - to publicly condemn this unprovoked attack against Christ and His followers. We further challenge the media to cover this affront to Christianity with the same vigor as recent stories about cartoon depictions of Mohammed and other items offensive to the Muslim community.
That's a laugh. Are you going to start beheading gays for this? The media coverage of the Mohammed cartoons only served to show how ridiculously easily religious people are offended. I guarantee most of these Christians laughed their ass off at the Muslim cartoons, but when it happens to them it's the most horrible thing in the world. That's the real hipocrisy, ladies and gentlemen.

Nice commentary! lol.
Nice commentary! lol.
I don't understand exactly how this is an 'attack' on Christ or Christianity. If anything wouldn't it be an attack on Da Vinci, instead? After all, it's really his painting that they're using.
Your last paragraph sums it up perfectly. Most religious people find nothing wrong with attacking or mocking other people's religious beliefs. When there own come into question however, they are positively outraged.
This is yet another example of how religion wants to censor anything that disagrees with its principles.

So, are Christians going the way of Muslims? Interestingly, in true Christian fashion, they are only going to half-ass it. There will still be giant statues of him, but not everyone can interpret how he should be protrayed.
