Atheist vs. Theist

Seriously, what responses are there to the Problem of Evil?

From what I've seen, all the arguments seem to involve Free Will (capitalized to indicate its presumed unassailability).  Are there any logically defensible arguments for the existence of an omnipotent, omniscient, benevolent God?

Growth of SBC stagnates: it's not universal

My former Christian sect (and largest protestant group in the U.S.), the Southern Baptist convention, is reporting decreases in the number of baptisms: a stagnation of growth.

http://www.christianpost.com/article/20070608/27873_Southern_Baptists_Meeting_Shows_Tension.htm

Among other things they had a big controversy over speaking in tongues, and there's resistance to the new culture of progressive Baptist churches who are concerned about "liberal" things like the environment.

They lost a lot of their liberal members (including my hero Jimmy Carter) a few years ago when they wrote into their charter the commitment to bible inerrancy. This to me appears to be a sign of a crumbling institution that is unable to adapt to changes in culture.

Yes, faith is irrational--accept it.

Good day R.R.S. In this post, I would like to do my best to explain my opinions/thoughts concerning faith. In a lot of posts recently, there have been plenty of debate over irrational beliefs such as faith. My goal here today is to explain why all believers should accept that faith is irrational.

First off, I don't think that saying faith is irrational is a derogatory or rude comment. Instead, it is merely a honest assesment of the meaning of 'faith.' This is a position that many theists don't claim to hold. My goal here today is mainly to speak to theists concerning the meaning of faith as I see it. Additionally, I will also try to reduce some of the claims made by the leaders of the R.R.S. in the kindest, most respectful way I can possibly communicate such things in.

Why God can't exist

God cannot exist becuase he would contridict himself. If he is omnipotent and omniscient I see no motive behind creating anything or doing anything. I also have have I list of 27 fallacies against God:

I. Omnipotence v.s. Omniscience.

1. God is Omnipotent
2. God is Omniscience
3. Does God know his future course of action for sure as it is set in stone?

Yes- He can't change it, its set in stone, God is not Omnipotent.
No- There is something he does not know, he is not Omniscience.

II. Omnipotence v.s. Limits.

Are Atheists intellectuals or just burned by the Church?

Before you go off on me because of my spelling errors, grammer or because my logic isn't flawless, I want you all to know that I am not perfect. I sometimes think aetheists have a good argument but I disagree with most of their beliefs. When I saw Brian and Kelly on the ABC show I couldn't help but remember all the aetheists, homosexuals, liberals and agnostics that I debated with in high school who were always so angry and didn't display kindness or respect. Not a great advertisement for your point of view. But anyways, I think Brian and Kelly at least looked alot better than Kirk and Ray.

Hello and Question

First I want to say hello to everyone, I am new to this forum. I just watched the dateline debate in its entirety and I believe that Sapient and Kelly both did a good job making their points. I did not like some of the sarcasm (i didn't think it was needed to make your points) but thats besides the point.

Now to my question and I am very sorry if this has been asked many times before but I haven't scrolled through all the boards yet, and rather just ask it in a new posting, because there are A LOT of posts.

I am a theist(non christian). And I want to make the point that I respect other beliefs including athiestic non belief as long as no one gets harmed. From what i've seen on this site you all seem like cool people.

Questions for muslims

I made a video asking muslims some questions. I'll ask more in due time, as I have a ton of other questions I couldn't ask given my time limit. What do you think?

Theist Plea to me.

i understand your definition of faith. but its a horrible misconception, mark. faith isnt what i substitute for logic when dealing with spirituality. its really not. the biblical definition of faith is believing based on proof. the prophesies involving Christ are compelling, yes- like Isaiah predicting the birthplace and events surrounding Jesus' death-- things totally out of Jesus' control as an unborn child and condemned criminal. but those arent what get me. what strike me are the prophesies like those found in Daniel 7- where the next several thousand years of empirial rularship are outlined. you can not make a archeologic case against the authenticity of the book of daniel... how in the hell did that guy pinpiont the medes/persians, greek, and roman conquering in sequential order while living under the babylonians? no way, its nuts.
