and when I asked him why god chose not to include the answers to every thing he knew we as humans would be asking, and leave out the answers to VERY important issues, he first went on and on about different aspects of the bible describing things that couldn't have just been guessed, so I reminded him that he was not answering my question because my question was not about the authenticity of the bible. He then responded with the following, which I really find very depressing.. however it will not shock you, it's just sad to hear that there are a greater amount of people in the world that share this opinion compared to those who actually enjoy reality;

Hey, there's a theist on another site that continually responds to atheists who tell her that the burden of proof is on the person who claims something exists with "prove love exists." It's a stupid argument, but difficult to respond to, other than with things like brain scans could be compared between different people feeling love at the time. Any ideas to counter this?

Ok, this is probably the wrong forum, but I'd like to challenge this idea that Jesus didn't exist. Now don't get me wrong, I think thats a possibility, but there is also very strong evidence for Jesus' existence.

For example, Mark contains a lot of information that seems so trivial that it can't have been made up (eg the pillow in The Calming Of The Storm). And not only that, but it contains embarrassing stories that seem unlikely to be made up (eg dieing on a cross, which would be extremely humiliating). I mean, what can a redaction critic really draw from that? He would have been naked on a cross in a busy area.

MIAMI (April 5) - The New Testament says that Jesus walked on water, but a Florida university professor believes there could be a less miraculous explanation -- he walked on a floating piece of ice.

Professor Doron Nof also theorized in the early 1990s that Moses's parting of the Red Sea had solid science behind it.

Nof, a professor of oceanography at Florida State University, said on Tuesday that his study found an unusual combination of water and atmospheric conditions in what is now northern Israel could have led to ice formation on the Sea of Galilee.

Nof used records of the Mediterranean Sea's surface temperatures and statistical models to examine the dynamics of the Sea of Galilee, which Israelis know now as Lake Kinneret.

your blindness. astounds me...well actually no.. but let me ask you this..if all creatures were created at the same time, why are they restricted to certain areas...

Also let me ask you this, you probably have no clue because A. you're blind, and B. you refuse to learn. But if evolution is fake and god created man...then explain how you have various phenotypic and genetic make up of blood ligands that change or evolve in response to malaria strains. For example, in Africa where a certain strain of malaria is very commmon. People there have developed change on teh surface protein of their red blood cells os that now, htis specifc strain of malarian cannot infect them. Also, explain, if there is no evolution, how bacterial strains can form resistance to anti-biotic. Also, explain to me where in the bible it describes...first off...bacteria.. iwant a passage..that tlaks about bacteria and funguses.. certainly...if...god created them he would have written about it, right..and also, I would like to see evidnce of god's creation of viruses, if you can even explain what viruses are, since you are well versed in the ways of creation vs. patterns. Describe to me theologically...the existence of viruse..as it is in tune with your creation vs. pattern theory..let's hear it..and I wil be honest with you, I will be posting this. So...go read up, go ask, your sources.. and let's hear it. I wil tell you this...God says so so it is..ain't proof.

Clergy voice their support for evolutionary theory

THEY are going to hell, and have been described as "Christian whores, atheists and worse". What could be worse is hard to imagine, but such are the epithets being hurled by fundamentalist Christians at thousands of Christian clergy who have declared themselves comfortable with both religion and evolution.

More than 10,000 clergy have signed up to the "Clergy Letter Project", launched in 2004 by Michael Zimmerman of the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. "Evolution Sunday", held in February to discuss the compatibility of science and religion, is planned to become a yearly event at churches across the US, Zimmerman says.

Study: Prayer doesn't affect heart patients

NEW YORK (AP) -- In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications.

Researchers emphasized their work does not address whether God exists or answers prayers made on another's behalf. The study can only look for an effect from prayers offered as part of the research, they said.

They also said they had no explanation for the higher complication rate in patients who knew they were being prayed for, in comparison to patients who only knew it was possible prayers were being said for them.
