Theist spotting

Apparently, my true nature as a theist was spotted. Oh, darn, my game is up...

"Theist spotting" will only

"Theist spotting" will only be attributed to those who constantly display their irrational belief in invisible friends.  Those who come and ask questions or are not sure where they stand will not be labled with this badge as far as I understand.

It is neither an irrational

It is neither an irrational belief, nor a belief in an invisible friend.

You are sure where you stand and hold firmly to your position, which is obviously outside belief in God, so ought I to label you irrational? Or ought I to label you irrational because you rather reject the possibility of discussion about, as you all affectionately refer to God, "the big Sky Daddy"?

Psalm 50(1):8. For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me.

You do have an irrational

You do have an irrational belief, a belief not backed with evidence. You won't keep it to yourself and live your life according to the good message it supposedly has.  You instead, tell others that they are wrong, correct?

I wasn't trying to attack you personally but rather explain the "Theist spotting" badge.

You can label me whatever you want, it doesn't make it so.

What else is an invisible "father who art in heaven" if not a sky daddy?

It is only not backed by

It is only not backed by evidence in your estimation. I have perfectly sound grounds for believing what I believe.

My religion dictates that instructing the ignorant is a work of mercy and I see this as a good opportunity to clear up rampant silliness present in these forums.

Holding that God exists is as rational as holding that the moon exist.

Psalm 50(1):8. For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me.

  • See you can't even keep your personal beliefs to yourself. I am not ignorant of Christianity or any other religion. Your last statement is just so blatantly a lie. I can see the frikkin moon.

StMichael, I hate to tell you this, but we had you pegged as a theist early on. Had you wished to fool us, perhaps you should have used a different avatar. And maybe picked a different screen name.  Kind of a dead giveaway.  Smiling

Theistic faith is irrational

Theistic faith is irrational by definition. I find it strange that this is news to you.

Your dictionary is not the

Your dictionary is not the same one I or the Catholic Church uses. The definition of faith we use is perfectly rational.

Your dictionary is a couple thousand years out of date.  Time to get a new one.

I get to define the terms

I get to define the terms of what belief is, because I am the one that believes, not you. If you want to argue that my belief is irrational, you can't define a priori that my belief is inherently irrational. It is not argument at all. You would have to rationally criticize what I actually hold, rather than what you presume that I hold.
