Atheism is based on faith.
I think the next time someone uses the "Atheism is based on faith, because you do not know everything." someone should point out that "Atheism isn't knowing, it's belief. I think you are talking about agnostic/gnostic, not atheism/theism."

I dunno. The difference
I dunno. The difference between colloquial faith and religious faith isn't that hard to explain or understand.
Religious: Belief despite lack of evidence or evidence to the contrary
Colloquial: Belief because of evidence.
Examples:
Religious: "I have faith that god exists. I don't need proof."
Colloquial: "I have faith that this chair will hold me up when I sit down."
Clearly, I've sat in chairs before and have good, empirical evidence.
I don't know that going to belief or knowledge is anything other than a distraction from the core fallacy.
Atheism isn't a lot like religion at all. Unless by "religion" you mean "not religion". --Ciarin
