Science: The Search For Truth Is On
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on May 27, 2008 - 2:24pm.Hey everybody, I have decided to start making some youtube videos about Science, Atheism, and Skepticism and this is one of the first few attempts. This video is more along the lines of "science has the answers" than it is an attack on religion, or irrational ideas, although it has subtle undertones of both concepts.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this video, I plan on making a lot more of videos of the same style and similar content. If anyone has any ideas for topics, I would be glad to hear them. HeyZeus out.

What really goes on at the Large Hadron Collider
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on April 29, 2008 - 2:25pm.I found this video on atheistmedia this morning and got incredibly excited about the LHC. I have read a few bits and pieces about the project, but Brian Cox is excellent at breaking down complex ideas and translating them in layman's terms. The video is about 15 minutes long, and well worth the time. If the LHC delivers what it purports to, we are on the precipice of one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time. Enjoy!
CONservapedia Rules!
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on April 28, 2008 - 8:43pm.I don't know how many people are familiar with www.conservapedia.com , but it is a hilarious website. I especially like the fact, that almost every entry references the bible or God in some way. The connection of conservatism here is almost exclusively synonymous with Christian, which makes me wonder sometimes how conservative nonbelievers can be truly conservative, because most of their social ideas seem to hinge on God in some way.
Here are a few choice quotes and entries that are particularly comical.
Common Era CONspiracy against Jesus
- When referencing dates based on the approximate birth of Jesus, give appropriate credit for the basis of the date (B.C. or A.D.). "BCE" and "CE" are unacceptable substitutes because they deny the historical basis. See CE

Battlestar Galactica: Cylon God vs. Human Gods: A Monotheism vs. Polytheism Showdown Part two
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on April 26, 2008 - 3:45am.Spoiler Alert!!!
In the latest installment of BSG's final season, the writers are leading us down a familiar path of American/Cylon analogies and counterpoints. In season 3, one of the early themes involved the ethical quandries associated with employing tactical suicide bombings in asymmetrical insurgencies. What? Is this Iraq in space? The answer to that question is a resounding no, but the parallel drawn between the human resistance on New Caprica by the occupying Cylons, invoked not only the reality of the battlefield scenarios being played out in Afghanistan and Iraq, but also conjured memories of Nazis marching into Paris. As Centurions mechanically advanced through mainstreet NC-City, the awe-stricken human populace hung their heads in an all too familiar trepidation.
An emerging theme of season 4 is the previously foreshadowed struggle for religious dominance. In humanities' corner we have Zeus and Apollo etc., the Greek Gods of lore. In the Cylon corner, we are honored by the one true God, who shall remain nameless so as to not offend all the other one, true Gods, of course. The tensions have risen between the few humans who believe in monotheism versus the majority of sects who adhere to the multiplicity of the old Gods. Gaius Baltar, following the perfectly timed cues of the Model Six in his head, has gradually panned the spectrum of belief from Deconverted Fundamentalist Polytheist to Atheist to Monotheistic Prophetic Savior. Quite a gamut-run for a scientist/ex-president!
Tribute To Poe's Law and Religious Satirist Edward Current
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on April 25, 2008 - 10:03pm.For those of you not familiar with Poe's Law:
Poe's Law relates to the impossibility to parody extremism. In particular, it addresses the difficulty of distinguishing fundamentalism parodies of fundamentalism. Generally, it suggests that it's hard to tell fake fundamentalism, from the real thing, since they will both often sound ridiculous
It was originally formulated by Christianforums.com user Nathan Poe.

Battlestar Galactica: Cylon God vs. Human Gods: A Monotheism vs. Polytheism Showdown
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on April 22, 2008 - 2:24am.I don't know how many people here are Battlestar Galactica Fans(the current series), but I have been intrigued recently about the interplay of faith and consequences between the Cylons' "one true God" and humanity's "Gods(Lords of Kobol)." The original series was created by a Mormon, and "a number of elements from the show derive from Mormonism, the religion of series creator Glen Larson. In particular, the concept of a lost Thirteenth Tribe is from Mormon legend. The Quorum of Twelve is also a Mormon concept." One of the things I find interesting is that this seems to incorporate the idea that polytheism comes first and later develops into Monotheism. In the series, the Cylons had a peace with humanity for 40 years living apart from them, but then in the blink of an eye they attempted to make humanity go extinct supposedly because of a directive issued by their God. This holocaust of humanity by the Cylons is the central plot device for the entire show, yet the reason for the holocaust has never been fully explained. The issue of religion in the show, specifically the unspecified commandments of the Cylon God, was the prime motivating force for the destruction of an entire group of people.
Stripper Evangelism and Hookers for Jesus...A New Breed of Prosyletizers
Submitted by HeyZeusCreaseToe on April 18, 2008 - 4:43pm.
While still preachy and just as ridiculous, this new style of evangelizing of JC's Girls, is at least more pleasing to the eye than the likes of Pat Robertson and his kind. Heather Veitch is "a former stripper that reaches out to women working in the sex industry with the unconditional love of Jesus Christ." She has a website called JC's girls where she goes out in Vegas trying to save the souls of people on the street, hookers, strippers, and others associated with the sex industry. She does this with her friend, "Annie Lobért Hookers for Jesus in a joint media project entitled, “Saving Sex City.” They have been hitting the streets of Las Vegas to share their love of Jesus with everyone."
I really wonder what this movie is like? Do they actually reach people and draw them into their church on a regular basis? Here is a bit of their street evangelism.
