Does RRS fight back against Answers in Genesis?

[Edit: Title changed -- Thanks Brian ]

Just curious... is there a reason why the RRS seems to avoid going after AiG? Going after Kent Hovind is like a high-schooler beating up a middle-schooler. I agree that the whole Youtube thing was a wash, and I've been rooting the RRS on throughout this whole fiasco -- But AiG is, from what I've seen, a much more potent threat. If you don't know what I mean, or don't believe me, go read some of their content on answersingenesis.org -- it's maddening!

Anyways -- any RRS [O]fficial stance on this issue? When Mike Riddle (an AiG spokesperson) came to town a few weeks ago, he actually specifically mentioned the RRS (by name, I think..although he may have said "Those Rational Response fellows from the Internet" or something) and said that he more or less verbally pwned you all.

Tips for debating with AiG people?

Hi all -- as I've mentioned previously, Answers in Genesis is coming to town ( http://www.wvete.com ).

We've got a small troupe of people (5-6) who will likely be attending their conference, myself included. We plan on strategically hitting one or two of the "lectures" in order to possibly raise questions or point out inaccuracies. We've been researching the material (arguments / rebuttals) for about two weeks now. The question I have for all of you:

Does anyone have any experience with dealing with the AiG types? I know to take them seriously, because I know they don't mess around. They've all got PhD's in apologetics (figuratively speaking) so they're very good at BS'ing their way out of tight corners.

Solution to Anti-Evolutionists: Natural Selection

I don't know how things are around you, but out here in eastern Indiana, the debate of Creation vs. Evolution rages on. We've got Dr. Terry Mortensen coming to town from AiG in a week, the local newspaper forums with a constant struggle between rationality and stupidity, etc.

Well I've got a solution for it all. Creationists should stand up for their cause by swearing off modern Medicine and Doctors. Modern Biology pretty much owes everything about it to the Theory of Evolution. So every time you take cold medicine, get a flu shot, or use anti-fungal creams you are receiving the benefits of many scientists who worked very hard and firmly believed in the idea of Evolution. (For what it's worth, some of them may also have believed in God, but it's highly unlikely that any of them were creationists).

Do you live near Richmond IN? (ZIP: 47374) We need your help! (Answers in Genesis is coming!)

If you live near Richmond, IN, we need your help. Answers in Genesis is coming to our town to spread their lies. The website is here:
http://wvete.com (note that they mispelled "Examine" in the browser's titlebar...tee-hee!)

I'm trying to assemble a group of people to go down and just make our presence known. Attend the conferences and point out fallacies, incorrect points, etc. A speaker FROM AiG will be there, so this is the real deal!

Interested parties should contact me at: aahill [at] indiana [dot] edu

Richmond, IN is located on the eastern border of Indiana, on I-70. It is ~100 miles from either Indianapolis or Columbus, and is about 45 minutes from Dayton.

Blasphemy Challenge

I was born to an Episcopal mother and a Catholic father. I was baptized Lutheran. I was confirmed in a Presbyterian church. But I don't think there was ever a time when I really believed anything I was hearing or saying.

We all had to go to church every Sunday with my mom. We did Sunday School, vacation bible school, youth group, CC, lock-ins, pancake breakfasts, retreats, the whole nine yards. When they would sing hymns, I would stand in silence. When the pastor would ask for a response from the congregation, I was tight-lipped. I frequently sat in the back and brought my walkman in so I could listen to cassettes of my favorite bands while the sermon droned on in the background. Sometimes my friends and I would volunteer to watch the kids in the nursery so we wouldn't have to be in church for the service.
