It never ceases to amaze me the lenths apologists will go to defend their myth.

Again, even if, for shits and giggles we went by their modle, it would not prove that disimbodied beings can knock up girls or that human flesh can survive rigor mortis.

Mitochondria contain their own small set of DNA, and they must reproduce separately within the cell whenever the cell divides. They are very similar in structure and function to a type of archaea still around today.

I'm about a year from my PhD in microbiology and I've never heard such.  Conventional wisdom from my mentors states that mitochondria are in fact the descendants of obligate intracellular pathogens/parasites from the alpha clade of the proteobacteria and therefore are not archaea in any sense.  Who's been telling you this?

hmmm for some reason I thought that was what was said in my bio classes/textbook a couple years ago when I took general bio. I just quickly typed up some basic facts off the top of my head for my answer to ZuS, so I didn't check on that, because I assumed it to be correct. I must have gotten confused or gotten the info mixed up since I last covered the material. I just checked one of my textbooks, and it does say that mitochondria resemble bacteria, not archaea. Sorry for the mix-up.

This is why, once again, I love scientific discussion. A PhD candidate will think maybe there was a change while he wasn't looking, and the undergrad says, "oh yeah -- my bad."

No giant "God Hates Fags" signs, no eternal damnation, no whining about being offended, no crocoducks, no tiresome radio shows telling you that your ignorant-ass parents were right about everything ...

Simple human communication at its most considerate, humble, and informative. I'm just sayin' ... I love you guys.

Oh, sorry.  There was a crocoduck in there actually, but it was only implied.  I just assume that if people are reading anything I write on the subject of biology, they just taken the crocoduck as written.

 Have I actually fallen

Have I actually fallen prey to an implied crocoduck? I think I have some feeling of what it must have been like for Kelly and Brian, now. Up on stage, nervous about being on television, and then a former child star brings out his collage project. Whuuuuut?

I apologize once again.  Where I said "crocoduck", please understand it to mean "golgi apparatus", or on even days of the week "nesting behaviour".
