Balloon boy and how stupid the media can be.

If any of you had been watching the news yesterday, the media was following the rumor that a boy was stuck IN a weather balloon that had floated away from the family home where it was tethered.

Immediately I thought two things which none of the reporters on any channel seemed to catch. In watching the LIVE FEED, during the chase, I noticed that there WAS NO ENTRY door or flap on the balloon. SECONDLY, wouldn't the kid have suffocated with it being helium, EVEN IF it could have lifted him?

The reporters and rescue team THOUGHT that the kid was actually INSIDE! Any moron looking at it after 5 seconds would have seen that it would have been impossible.

I was admittedly thinking the worst, which fortunately didn't happen. I was thinking the kid untied it and clung to a tether and hung on too long and fell to his death. BUT when they found him hiding  in the house, that made sense too.

WHAT BUGS THE SHIT OUT OF ME, is the media calling it a miracle? Since when is magic when a kid does something wrong, and hides because they are afraid of punishment from the parents?

A "miracle" would have been if he HAD been in the balloon and magically transported to the attic of his house.

It never ceases to amaze me how the media can turn the mundane into an ancient Greek tragedy.

Of course everyone is glad the kid is ok, BUT COME ON!

Actually, Brian ...the thing

Actually, Brian ...the thing wasn't a weather balloon.  It was an experimental vehicle his father built.  I don't know if there was a compartment on the thing separate from the helium balloon.  When I first read the story and the kid was still thought to have been in the balloon, I only wondered about the height it would reach.  The kid would have been safe enough, I suppose (if there was a place to sit).  Then it turns out he's in his attic.  I agree, big deal.  Nothing to see here, move along.

You people simply DON'T understand that this is a blessing. Just because you don't BELIEVE it is true doesn't mean it it. This happened IN modern times. It is a real miracle that GOD chose to save this child to prove his existence to the world! Just because so many IDIOTS don't want to see it for what it is, an honest to goodness proof of the heavenly father, doesn't mean anything beyond they are anything but blind.

Thank you. Bonus points if you noticed the hidden message in the righteous indignation.

I'm finding it is a lot easier to poe if you stop thinking about what you are writing. Then I included the hidden message because I think these people usually look for things like that. That, or a penis in clouds in Disney movies.

As to people that say these kinds of things seriously, there is only one real response.
