I am a hermit. I like being

I am a hermit. I like being at home. I would however like it if there were, which there isn't, an atheist group near me. The closest one is about an hour north of me, but boring because they have their meetings in libraries. My dancing club days are over, but if I want to hang out with people I would be a pub person.

Basically I don't see a need to go out and spend money to have fun. Everything I enjoy is at home. I like to debate online. I like to keep up on news, and I love being with my cat and my dog. It may sound borring to most, but I used to do the "party thing" and I have been around and done this and that, and I like being settled.

I will share my

I will share my definitions:

Clubs: Loud music~the type would depend on the club (industrial, urban, disco etc), lots of people, cosmos for girls, long necks for guys, walking to the bathroom and getting your ass grabbed by who the hell knows, conversations that were screamed at such a level to make you hoarse for days:  exhilarating and exhausting.

Pubs: Music at a decent level, moderate level of people, beers all around, playing pool and darts : relaxing.

*******************

For the first 10 years of our marriage my husband and I would go out dancing and drinking at "clubs". Since we were married in our very early twenties, we were drawn to that lifestyle. For the past 8 years when we detach our asses from the couch, we tend to prefer a pub-style place to hang.

i'm a big fan of lower-class

i'm a big fan of lower-class workers' pubs here in slovakia.  being as this is the top lager-making region in the world, bar none, the beer is just as excellent but at about a third of the price.  the ambience is more to my liking: hardwood benches, plenty of smoke, tv on at low volume, maybe one fussball table, no snooty nouveau-riche jackasses trying to look cool by ordering a 2-euro heinekin that is vastly inferior to the domestic stuff, no fucking techno or pop music.

i prefer either to go by myself, during which time i read and have a pipe full of good strong fire-cured virginia, or with the lead guitarist from my band, who is about the only guy in this country i really enjoy getting drunk with.

"I have never felt comfortable around people who talk about their feelings for Jesus, or any other deity for that matter, because they are usually none too bright. . . . Or maybe 'stupid' is a better way of saying it; but I have never seen much point in getting heavy with either stupid people or Jesus freaks, just as long as they don't bother me. In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else deserves to be left alone. They will not inherit the earth, but then neither will I. . . . And I have learned to live, as it were, with the idea that I will never find peace and happiness, either. But as long as I know there's a pretty good chance I can get my hands on either one of them every once in a while, I do the best I can between high spots."

I am all three type of

I am all three type of person, all depends on the night and my mood, usually for the last 6 months its been pub on friday's, clubs on saturdays or home watching movies.....or making one Sticking out tongue. However I still appreciate all forms of music (and lets not get into the whole techno/dance/hip-hop isn't real music, because it's all just an opinion and I know people that think that electric guitars aren't part of real music, only acoustic and nothing else)

But the pub is always the best, relaxed and usually live music where I go, as for the clubs, we try to hit 25 and old crowds, as there is less ego and more money being spent, which up here tends to be people with a bit more maturity making more money to spend.

ahh well im back and it was

ahh well im back and it was quite dead only 100 150 people at peak so 3am seemed a good time to leave. I myself would like to clear up a term that has been thrown out. Relaxing...... this word means boring nothing is happening dead no life. If you ask me pubs are where you go when you just want a drink or better drink yourself into a coma, clubs are where you go when you want fun, hook up with some random and never see her/him again. Personally i don't see the point in pubs, never have. Iv never just wanted a drink and there are better places for a chilled evening. just a personal opinion but hey. Im disappionted at you pub people. only doen side to clubs is i can never sleep after going out for the night dead or no. need to wind down first.

Pubs probably

Though I did go to an industrial dance club in barcelona a couple years ago and to ibiza in 08 at the age of 41 - lol.

Lot of fun but I wished I was 21 instead. And there was the problem with my ability to handle only 1 big night in about 10...

I love my local pubs - especially in the country. Great to walk into a place where you either know everyone or you soon will.

extremely uncomfortable shoes.  at least in europe, anyhow.  for some reason guys here like to cram their toes into about a 3/4 inch-wide space.

What is boring to you is not to others. That is the same projectionism that gets a Baptist to say "Catholics aren't true Christians". What you call fun others dont and vice versa. If you find it fun to club and dance, have at it. I find it fun to poke the hornet's nest in debate and stimulate my brain. And what I do doesn't cost as much money as what you do.

You are not wrong for how you have fun, but neither am I.

i have no doubt you find

i have no doubt you find what you do fun. if you didn't you wouldn't do it. Hey i like it to, i wouldn't be here if i didn't enjoy it to some extent. I said personal opinion for a reason, its what i think not some absolute truth. What does how much money something cost have to do with anything anyway?

For me pubs are a place to

For me pubs are a place to just chill, not in the mood for loud music and dancing, just wanna sit down with friends and have a good laugh, play pool or darts and drink beer without the worry of someones ego getting in the way (as it can happen in clubs when someone wants to impress some girls, or you accidentally step on someones brand new shiny shoes, who the fuck wears shoes to a club that they don't want to be stepped on?) As well eat some pub grub...which depending on the pub can be very good (headed out to a Spanish tapas bar last night, eat very well and really great food last night). However I never drink myself to a coma, however in clubs, I have seen more people passed out drunk than at the pubs I go to. Then again, most go to the pubs to relax not the get completely shit faced....unless of course it's St. Paddy's day.

In Canada, so I am not criticizing other countries night clubs, and more specific Toronto's night clubs, most have bottle service and that is where I see most of the out of hand drinking, 3 or 4 bottles of Grey goose or Belvedere vodka with a group of 5 people, well someone is getting tanked. However I tend to go to more mature clubs so it's not so bad really here, and I do enjoy those nights, just some night I am not up to spending 100 bucks, I just rather stay close to home at my local pub and have some good laughs with friends.

Clubs. I just want to have fun Laughing out loud

When I want to relax I curl up with a book at home, in a robe and slippers, and sip hot cocoa while listening to soothing music.

I spends tons of money on random stupid shit I like.

My comment was more of a statement about a section of the world I have nearly ZERO interest in (namely worrying if some shit i'm wearing is trendy or if i have the right colors or whatever.)  I'm not saying I care if others love that stuff, but I'm more likely to be looking for a rock or metal concert for a loud night out, or a film or really good food and beer for a quieter one.

im afraid that has something to do with some of the types that go to clubs, there is always a few that cannot hold there alcahol and think they can. god i know some people that cannot even handle 5 whiskys and water or simalar brandy and coke, vodka and water etc... I feel bad for them. Im good to drive way way after that point. Although it would be cheaper if it didn't take to many to get a decent buzz. I don't know if its the same over there but the unwritten rule here is you never go to the toilet at a club unless you want to wade through vommit. However I find there is more drinking at the bars iv been to than the clubs iv been to, clubs you do other stuff besides drink. bars all you do is drink but maybe iv just been to the wrong bars.

yeah here its free drinks from 8 to 10 on saturdays. then way over priced the rest of the night, its a recipe for disaster.  However if i do want a slightly less energetic evening i will profess a weakness for karioke bars. thats a laugh, most of the time for the wrong reasons. But those are few nights are few and far inbetween.

Yeah no one care about what colours you have on or whatever, at least not at the clubs i go to. Then again i go to some dodgy clubs most of the time. Just no short pants and has to be closed shoes, the only rules there are. That said if there is a decent rock or metal concert on somewhere i am the first one there, rock is my first love, but is has to be live or it is pointless. Rock > club music techno dance it don't matter. But there isn't much in the way of rock out here, at least nothing i would call good.

Or possibly going to the pubs with the wrong folks, either way it's different atmosphere in different areas of the world I guess, I go to pubs for food and drinks (which really limits your alcohol intake as well) but as well to play pool or darts, either way it's never been to get shit faced coma drunk....ok St. Paddy's day is the exception. As for the clubs, yeah many dance, but they dance and drink at the same time so it pretty much doesn't stop, and food is rarely ever served at clubs, which increases the amount of alcohol one drinks as well the effects of it. I don't know about your area of the world, here, no free drinks (against the law) and bottles start at the cheapest is $150 and up, average is $300, but when you get a young crowd with some money, and they want to show off, they get a bunch of them that have saved for the month and buy 4 to 6 bottles for the night and just get wrecked.

Completely agree with you on the overprice part, I am a rye and 7up drinker or rum and 7up, at my pub it costs me $6 to $7 dollars depending on the pub. At the clubs it's $9 bucks on average, some places as high as $11 dollars, which is a complete rip off. For beer at the pub $4 to $5 bucks, $6 is I go with Guinness or Kilkenny. At the clubs $7 for domestic $9 for import.

As for Karaoke bars, about 20 minutes from my place is some serious serious Karaoke bars, individual rooms, with your own waitress, big screen TV, minimum of $100 to get the room plus drinks and food which, however the rooms fit 20 people easy so the cost isn't that much. Of course run by chinese/japanese which I find run some of the most entertaining Karaoke bars in the GTA.

Neither.I do not like to

Neither.

I do not like to "hang out" with the humans.

They are filthy, stupid and ugly. They stink of chemical malnutrition and perfume.

However, I like to sit - in the shade - at an outdoor bar and read a book with a good, Egyptian cigarette and some wine.

(I'll be the one in a black "blues brothers" suit wearing dark sunglasses and a hat.)

Me i drink whisky and water or brandy and coke and vodka on special occasions. Drinks here cost like R12 which is like 1 US dollar but you cannot do direct conversions obviously. but Hell if you wana do direct conversions i can by a 1 liter bottle of vodka for 11 US dollars with a direct converstion into Rands.

On karioke bars individual rooms are pointless never used them at least i think so, if you are going to get up and sing you may aswell do so infront of everyone not just friends. Thats the fun part imo. Making a complete ass of yourself in public is always a recipe for a good night.

I agree, and these Karaoke bars do have a common area as well, lounge area I guess, and they have individual rooms as well, great for more private celebration. As for the prices, I can't really compare, mine is Canadian dollars, which even when I go to the US our prices seem expensive, then again the government has it's hands in the taxes as well, not just regular tax oh no, there is the food and alcohol tax, separate from the regular tax.

Now in Halifax, Nova Scotia they have it right, there is a bar/club complex called the liquor dome...basically 5 different settings in one location, a live rock band area, 2 club setting area, a standard cheers type bar area and a restaurant style area. 1 price and you can go in between all of them. Whatever you like is there....and they serve till 3 AM, which in Canada is late as most bars close at 2am, some at 1 or midnight.

I wish there more of these type thing near where i live but there are none in easy driving distance. But come on! 3am is pitiful! to early for things to close. I normally am out till 5 am when i go out but then again im normally at a club not a bar. clubs here stay open until there is not enough customers buying but normally they end up closing at around 5am. hehe but a couple weeks back i ended up getting home at 11 am, great night.

Kinda the difference between

Kinda the difference between Canada and the rest of the world I guess. We do have after hour clubs and clubs that remain open till the morning light, however they stop serving alcohol at 2 or 3 am depending where they are. When I go to Argentina, the party doesn't start till 1 AM and goes till at least 8 AM if not longer.

Then again in the great white north, we start at around 10 PM to party since we are limited in our time.
